Before more than 250 years ago, the building of the hotel Lavica with all other buildings in the area, belonged to court counsellor TISZTAPATAKYA. In the year 1809, familiy Wiesner / Livadic buys it. All buildings made a court yard along with the central building - the castle, (today it's a museum). Buildings around the museum served as granaries, basements, bower,
garage for waggons and coaches, workshop for wheel-wrighters and blacksmiths and
apartment for servatns. Hotel Lavica was the horse-stable with hay-loft. In the half of the 19th century, the building adapts and Milan Livadic, son of Ferdo Livadic, builds an farmacy inside of it. In the same building there was a hall and reading
room under the name of DVORANA (HALL), as well as few
rooms in the front wing on the main floor of the building, where the guest where staying; (famous members of Illyrian movement: Ljudevit Gaj, Stanko Vraz, Petar Preradovic and others) when they visited family Livadic or the town of Samobor. By the end of 19th century, Hydropatic bathing-establishment with hospital is build in Samobor, which was opened by famous samobor pharmacist Mirko Klescic and dr.Juratovic. The owner of the real property, Mrs. Vera Saurer, has opened a hotel i
restaurant named Pension for accommodation of summer guests. Hotel had

shop, where you could buy ice-cream, cakes and biscuits, milk, and cookies called snenokle. In the first years of the 20th century (1904), hotel and
restaurant is bought by hostel-keeper Dattler, who supplements Hotel offers, and opens a dancing hall inside of it. By that day, Lavica becomes, more bigger and bigger part of the social life and tourism in Samobor. Following up is an organizations of huge number of
parties in Samobor, dances, dress-balls, redutes, concerts, teatre shows, classes, book nights, cinemas. And all of that was in Lavica. Because of all this, in the summer of 1904, hotel has served over 1000 domestic and foreign guests. In the year 1904, hotel starts tourist paper called LJETOVALISNI VJESNIK SAMOBORA, but later it runs under official Samobor news paper and it brings monthly reports of guests that have visited the hotel. In the year 1918, joint-stock company Hermes from capital Zagreb buys hotel (Pension) along with it's cinema. New hotel manager is Dragutin Freunderich (also known as theatre artist), who has re-adapted and modernized hotel. He has also build a new bridge over the brook Gradna with roof and
balconies and changed hotel name into Lavica. History (meaning) of the name Lavica. President of the joint-stock company Hermes at the time was dr.Vladimir Matic. On the 10th of July 1918 he came to Samobor with his wife and daughter to approve the nessecery arrangements for the work on the hotel. When he came accross the new bridge, Dragutin Freunderich who welcomed them friendly has informed them that hotel is finished and ready for work. Then Freunderich showed dr.Matic a big sign made of forged
iron which stood above them (and it's there today), and said: I hope you are not angry because I named this hotel after you're lovely daughter Lavica. Dr.Matic and his wife with tears in their eyes accepted suggetion that Freunderich told them and ever since that date, 10th of july 1918, both hotel and the
restaurant carry the name Lavica. In the second decade of the 20th century president of the Hermes and head manager of the hotel Lavica was Kazimir Kopsa, who was famous by his gastronomical specialities. He offered home made ham, soups, roast meat, salads, stews, domestic sauseges cesnjofke, ribs, boiled vegetables, all kinds od cakes; gibanica Lavica and so called šnenokle From the
drinks: fine wines, black sweet beer and so on. In the third decade of the 20th century manager of Lavica was M.Hlavac. In those years and so on 'till the World War two, Lavica was home of motorists, bikers, excursionists and mountaineers. After World War 2 Lavica became social property led by bussinessman with more or less success. In the 60's Lavica became part of the HUP Risnjak, a company from the capitol town Zagreb. 1966 Lavica gets a bigger
restaurant but it was not finished untill 1973. HUP Risnjak abandones Lavica and hotel works under poor conditiones, so the workers of the hotel demands that Lavica separates from the HUP Risnjak. After that workers tryed to get back renome that Lavica lost by poor leadership. In 1983 Lavica becomes part of HURO company from Zagreb.Again Lavica was reconstructed and in the fall of 1983 the main hall became a
disco club. 1990 war started in Croatia and Lavica became a shelter for exiled people and families. By the end of the war Lavica was closed for
business. In the year 1994, a company named INGAP ltd. Samobor buys Lavica and manages partitialy to adapt it. Then, in 2001, AUTOTURIST SAMOBOR ltd. buys Lavica from INGAP and immediatelly starts adaptation of the hotel. Today Lavica has
22 rooms with total of 45 beds, reception,
kitchen, main hall and so on. In the final stage of adaptation hotel Lavica will have a capacity of 6 apartmans,
30 rooms with 70 beds. During the adaptation of the hotel all the existing legal requests have been fulfilled, so it currently completely fulfills all conditions for a *** (three-star) hotel, of the west europeian kind. The hotel building is classified as a CULTURAL MONUMENT.
