At the Makarska Marineta (small coast), at the place where two stone Dalmatian houses were located up to the 19th century, a palace of the Family Kacic-Peko was constructed in the Romantic forms of a fortified castle. It has trifore of the Renaissance fence and an outer semi-circular stair-case with a small fountain and a park. It was built on the model of a rural fortified palace, built with bricks, mortar and cement. Since the beginning of the last century, there was a library situated inside, and in 1916 even the Library of the Town of Makarska. After it became private possession, in the year 2002, a thorough reconstruction and the adaptation of the palace was carried out, and the palace became a representative model of one of the most beautiful and the oldest buildings in the area of the Town of Makarska. The palace retained its original form and beauty and was pronounced the cultural monument. Within the said palace there is a modern and comfortable hotel that fascinates with its comfort, inner and outer beauty that does not leave you indifferent. The hotel is situated 20 meters from the sea from the south side and from the north side it faces the main square and the old town centre. On the both sides of the hotel there are two sunny spacious terraces with a big terrace on the top of the building where you can enjoy the view of the islands and the mountain Biokovo. The union of centuries-old beauty and highquality service. That is the hotel Porin.

At the Makarska Marineta (small coast), at the place where two stone Dalmatian houses were situated up to the 19th century, a palace of the Family Kacic-Peko was constructed in the Romantic forms of a fortified castle. It has trifore of the Renaissance fence and a semi-circular staircase with a cement New-Renaissance fountain and a small park fenced in with a steel fence with cement New-Rococo vases at the gates. It was obviously constructed on the model of other buildings at the Adriatic coast, as a rural fortified palace, made of bricks, mortar and cement. The Family Kacic came from the Makarska upper region, from the place called Gradac to Makarska, at the end of the eighteenth century. Dr. Antun noble Kacic-Peko (1835-1917) stems also from that family, and he practiced law in Makarska since 1891. A part of the small coast called Marineta prior to the construction of the palace Kacic-Peko about the year 1800. At the turn of the 19th century, Dr. A. Kacic-Peko built a representative palace at the small coast, and he fixed the family coats of arms to the south facade. The town library was situated in this building. The books written by Vjekoslav Pavisic were supposedly brought to that library around the year 1910. In 1916, the Library of the Town of Makarska was opened therein and the ownership of the building was transferred on the town. The Library was situated therein up to the end of the Second World War. During the following ten years, it was the headquarters of different ruling authorities so that its name the old committee is being used even nowadays. In the year 1979, the office of the Museum moved temporarily to that building and the Town Library was being operated operating therein for a couple of years as well. For some time, the Makarska amateur painters were actively working on the ground floor, and after that we had there catering services and on the upper floor the offices of a hotel company etc. The palace of the Family Kacic-Peko, before the year 1904 and in 1937.
