Guest rooms at the Tallwood allow for a choice of a double, queen, 2 doubles, a king size or 2 queen size beds. Smoking and Non-Smoking rooms are available (it is recommended that you specify which type of room is desired when making reservations). All our rooms are clean, safe and well maintained. Room amenities include heat and air conditioning, refrigerator, microwave, cable/color television, telephone, clock/radio, shower and private bath. Some rooms have tub/shower, some are shower only. Please indicate if you have a preference when making your reservation. The Tallwood has 3 refurbished cabins, each with a double bed. There is also a 2 bedroom cabin that accommodates 5 people with a double bed, a bunk bed and a twin bed. Please call for rates. There is easy access to our large, centrally located swimming pool, from any of our rooms. On the premises there is an ice machine, a snack and a soda machine for your convenience. Nearby there are several restaurants and small shops, including the world famous, Lighthouse Depot, that are within a short walking distance. The peaceful and relaxing surroundings at The Tallwood Motel will allow you to get that good night's sleep before engaging on a fun filled day, perhaps at one of the areas fine sandy beaches or any other of the many attractions in Wells and the surrounding resort towns. The Tallwood Motel is only minutes away from many of the attractions of Wells and surrounding areas. There are 5 sandy beaches between 1.5 and 6 miles from The Tallwood Motel! If you choose you may ride the Trolley to Wells Beach from our nearby trolley stop. You may even decide to connect with the Ogunquit Trolley to spend the day at Ogunquit beach. The trolley comes by every half hour during day summer hours. It's also a fun way to find other attractions in the area. Hop aboard and let your cheerful trolley driver take you for a sightseeing ride. For the family, along Route 1 in Wells there are 3 places to play miniature golf. There is also an excellent par 3 golf course at Merriland Farm just up the road from us. Just ask for directions at our front office. For the bicyclists, bike rentals are available from several areas, including Wheels and Waves on Route 1 in Wells. Rent by the day or hour. For a relaxing walk, nature trails at the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge and Laudholm Farm are also very popular and enriching. For the more adventurous, there is kayaking at Wells Harbor (at Webhannet River Boatyard. Inc. near the dock at the end of Harbor Rd.), if you want some great fun! There are many fine shops, used and rare book stores and antique dealers in Wells. In fact, we're willing to boast that you won't find another resort beach area in the world with more rare book stores and antique dealers per square mile. Of course, seeing is believing. The area restaurants are one of our best attractions. Casual dining, excellent food and great service are the trademarks of our restaurants. Yes, there is seafood,... the best. Succulent! Within walking distance from The Tallwood Motel is The Lighthouse Depot. Here you will find the largest assortment of lighthouse souvenirs in Maine. The Lighthouse Depot was recently featured on a NBC special. There are many other attractions within a short drive from Wells, including Kennebunkport (very close to us), Freeport (L.L. Bean), Nubble Lighthouse, Portland Head Light, Ogunquit (Perkins Cove, Marginal Way). Much more! While at The Tallwood Motel you may enjoy the quiet and relaxing surroundings of our large swimming pool. We have a large deck area with lounge chairs and tables with shade umbrella canopies. The pool is located in the center of the motel area with enough fence and trees around to give you privacy while you swim or relax on our lounge chairs. The Tallwood Motel is a resort motel located on US Route 1 in Wells, Maine, USA. We are open to the public from the beginning of May until the end of October so that you may enjoy our long vacation season. Spending a summer vacation at Southern Maine's seacoast is a great vacation choice. 2008 Tallwood Motel Rate Schedule. SAME RATE FIVE YEARS! 1 King Bed or 2 Double Beds. June 20 to August 23. August 29 to Sept. 1. All rates for rooms are for two persons. Above rates do not include 7% Maine Sales Tax or gratuities. Add $10.00 per night for each additional person regardless of age. Higher during peak times. Saturday only and holidays are at a premium when available. It is highly recommended to make reservations in advance. We recommend that you call us toll free to make reservations, though you may also use our online reservation form. Deposit of one nights rate, plus tax, is required to hold a room. All other forms of payment for deposit, other than by credit card, must first be approved by the management. To guarantee reservation, the deposit must be received within ten days of reservation date, and payable in U.S. funds. Minimum stays may be required during certain periods of time. At least 10 days notice of cancellation, from the beginning date of the reservation, is required for a full refund of a deposit. There is a minimum $15.00 cancellation service charge for all cancellations made within 10 days of the beginning date of the reservation. There is a one night charge for cancellations made within 72 hours of scheduled beginning date of the reservation, or for no shows. NO refunds for early departures. No exceptions, please.
