Abacos Local Knowledge. A little bit about Green Turtle Cay: for a Picture
Tour of Green Turtle Cay. Approximately three miles long, and about one and one-half miles wide at its widest point, Green Turtle Cay is one of the oldest settled islands in the Northern Bahamas. Green Turtle Cay is one of the barrier islands that separate the northeast shore of Great Abaco Island from the Atlantic, and the closest landing on Great Abaco is Treasure Cay. Green Turtle Cay is also further protected from the Atlantic Ocean by its own set of offshore reefs, which help protect the ocean beaches on this jewel of an island. Green Turtle Cay is about 24 nautical miles north of Elbow Cay, home of Hope Town, and about 20 nautical miles from Marsh Harbour. Great Guana Cay, with its fabulous ocean beach, is about halfway between Hope Town and Green Turtle. Continental and USAir both service the
airports at Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbour. There is dependable ferry service from the dock at Treasure Cay. Click the music for Green Turtle's own fabulous Gully Roosters! A little bit about New Plymouth: for a Picture
