Fernandez Bay Village has one of only four commercial kitchens on all of Cat Island. On occasion boaters come all the way from Hawks Nest Marina to eat here. As a result, you dont have to go far to enjoy the best food Cat Island has to offer. Unless you tell us otherwise,well plan you in for all three daily meals. Please inform the staff if youll be eating out or preparing your own meals at your villa. Cat Island is special in that there's always a stalk of bananas hanging around or seasonal mangoes, papaya, watermelon, tomatoes and limes filling the fruit basket for a quick snack. Breakfast is served seaside on the dining terrace. Enjoy a buffet of hard boiled eggs, an assortment of breads and rolls, cheese, local fruits, cereal, yogurt, bacon, sausage and daily specials - banana pancakes, cinnamon French Toast or eggs benedict on Sundays. For lunch just walk up and place your order at the kitchen window. Choose among burgers, hot dogs and heavenly sandwiches prepared on fresh baked Bahamian bread, along with fresh tossed salads and cold beverages. Dinners at FBV have a reputation for flavor and ambiance. They attract boaters and private pilots from throughout the Bahamas and South Florida. Served buffet style on the beach patio under the stars, guests come early to mix and mingle at the tiki bar. Sample island hors d'oeuvres such as conch fritters, a lobster dip, or grilled keilbasa followed by candle light dinner. We always serve several choices; a meat and a seafood, rice or potatoes, vegetables, fresh green salad and homemade rolls. The final act is dessert and a de-caf coffee. Several of Fernandez Bay villas have kitchens. Provisions for cooking can be found at The New Bight Market or at the Village Grocery store at Fernandez Bay. This is one of the most popular spots on Cat Island! Share a drink with old friends at the tiki bar - or make some new ones. The patio overlooking the Cat Island bay leads from the bar to the beach-side dining terrace. Here youll enjoy most of your daily meals. Of course, theres always the option to move indoors under the traditional thatch roof of the formal dining room for shelter from the sun. Directly adjacent to the dining room is the lobby and library, featuring a large open fireplace. During mealtimes, the buffet is set up on the south side of the lobby next to the kitchen. The main entrance and reception desk are directly across from a sitting area that features a public telephone and a computer with internet access.

Tucked in between the Club House and Coconut Palm Cottage, the Tamarind Suite is quite and cozy. This cottage features high ceilings, a queen size bed, walk in closet, A/C and a small refrigerator, along with a garden bath featuring tropical plants. Other amenities include a coffee maker, small sink, overhead fan and a large sliding glass door leading to a private patio. Located at the southern end of the bay, the Point House offers unrivaled privacy. This free-standing, single-story villa has two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and attached garden bath, the other with a queen size bed and garden bath across the hallway. Theres also a large living area, full kitchen, dining area, and private terrace. Enjoy an awesome ocean view and garden path to the beach. Point House is a 5 minute walk from the Club House.

The view from the water is always superior to that from shore. A boat ride to a nearby beach or cay is a great way to enjoy a picnic lunch and the solitude of a quiet unexplored stretch of beach. Try some water skiing or wake-boarding to work up an appetite. After lunch, a sightseeing trip along Cat Island's coast may be just the way to digest your meal. Small settlements of brightly painted houses and ancient plantation ruins dot the way. Then anchor up and snorkel a living coral cay, or do some bottom fishing. Thirteen foot Boston Whalers can be rented without a captain for exploring nearby beaches. The 23' mako - Done Gone and the Ana Capri - Soon Come are available with a captain for longer trips to Dry Head for snorkeling, picnics on Pigeon Cay, exploring bat caves and shelling at Old Bight Beach.
