We are a bed and breakfast which caters to the adult customer with an emphasis on service and relaxation. Our architecture, lush grounds and rooms reflect the beauty and relaxing atmosphere of Mexico. Your first view of Tierra Alta is on Cooper Street; there you will see our roses and community garden nestled on the terraces. Above the terraced gardens, our large front porch overlooks the lawn and flagstone area surrounding the first koi pond. Walking through the North passageway leads you to the courtyard; there our ancient almond tree dominates the courtyard. The grape arbor and second koi pond are located in the upper courtyard, providing sanctuary from the outside world. You may also access the courtyard by our private off-street parking lot located behind the main complex. When you visit Silver City please stop by, and we will give you a tour. Drive i nto the back parking lot and ring the school bell. If we are not there, please stroll through and enjoy the grounds. With 108 steps and 30' of elevational changes within the complex, we hope you will enjoy the workout at 6000', and we guarantee your visit will be a healthy one. We are in the middle of remodeling this historic complex, which was originally the Meredith House built in 1881, with major additions in the 1930's and 1940's. Tierra Alta enjoyed its last heyday in the late 1950's. With the luxury of time on our side, we are rebuilding to serve you with the attention you deserve. Throughout the year we will plan many different celebrations when we open, but currently we celebrate Christmas Eve by lighting the entire complex with traditional luminarios. Thisstarted in 1999 with a gathering of friends on our front porch sharing the joys of food, drink, music and conversation. Please come by for a tamale, hot cider and a beautiful view. Our 1/2 acre complex is completely smoke free and is located two blocks south of the historic courthouse on Cooper St., six blocks SW of downtown Silver City and 12 blocks SE of Western New Mexico University. Thank you for not bringing your pets. Since we are not currently open, We recommend the following accommodations for your stay in Silver City: are located within a few minutes of downtown; if you prefer tall pine trees, in Pinos Altos; downtown you will find European flavor at the. If your destination is northwest of Silver City then relaxation can be found at near Cliff/Gila, New Mexico. Our latest addition to Silver City is. luxury accommodations and a place for your horse. To date, we are living in our first long term rental, La Vista. Our finished project will include three long-term rentals, four overnight rentals, two with short-term capabilities, and our residence with commercial kitchen so we may accommodate your private parties.
