We serve meals made from the from the freshest of ingredients Thursday through Sunday of each week. On Mondays through Wednesdays we serve roadkill (just kidding, the kitchen is mostly closed). Our regular hours are: Breakfast - 8 AM to 10 AM. Lunch - 11 AM to 3 PM. Our irregular hours are whenever else the chef feels like cooking (and he really likes to cook). You can get breakfast almost any day when we have overnight guests. We are a bed and breakfast and we have to heat up the grill anyway. We reserve the right to fish in the morning on days when we have no guests. All hours are subject to change at the chef's whim. Vic Garrison, our master chef, was classically trained at New Mexico Department of Corrections and Nadine's Cafe in Austin, Texas. His assistant chef, Jack Rigney, is a longtime resident of Lincoln. He cooked Bob Ollinger's last meal before he was shot. As I have previously mentioned, Vic really likes to cook, so give him a call if you need a private party or event catered. He can cook almost anything, including prison food, if you aren't particularly fond of the people at the at the party or event. The lunch menu for this weekend will include a green chili cheeseburger. Call or drop by for further details. Your basic bacon and eggs breakfast is served almost every morning.
Under New Management. (Not the Guy Pictured Here). The historic Wortley Hotel, formerly owned by Sheriff Pat Garrett, is located in scenic Lincoln, New Mexico, the former stomping grounds of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid broke out of jail for the last time in Lincoln, killing Deputy J. W. Bell and U. S. Marshall Bob Ollinger, in the process. Bob was eating at the Wortley, along with several prisoners from the jail, when the breakout occurred. It was his last meal. Billy the Kid was considered too damned dangerous to be taken across the street and fed at the Wortley. He took his meals in the courthouse. He talked J. W. Bell into allowing him to go to the outhouse while everyone else was gone to lunch. On his way back from the outhouse, Billy overpowered and shot Bell. When Ollinger heard the shot he dropped his fork and ran across the street. Billy let him have it with both barrels of his own shotgun. He died well fed. The management of the Wortley would like to point out: We no longer feed prisoners. The food is much better these days. Carnage of this sort rarely occurs in modern day Lincoln, thus our motto, No Guests Gunned Down in Over 100 Years. Do you enjoy nightlife, bright lights, hustle bustle and fast living? If you do, we don't have any of that here. You need to go to Las Vegas (the one in Nevada). If you enjoy clean mountain air, rocking on the front porch, pitching horseshoes, listening to the quiet, rubbing elbows with colorful characters and exploring New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, have we got a place for you. Come and stay awhile. The snow has melted. We are back from our winter hiatus. We intend to have as much fun this year as we did last year. Come help us achieve our minimum yearly requirement of fun. Proprietors: Victor and Cathy Garrison. Location: Highway 380, Phone: (505) 653-4300 cathy@wortleyhotel.net
Pat Garrett Slept Here but Never This Well. All rooms at the Wortley have been recently remodeled. We have newfangled indoor plumbing in each room, new custom made beds imported from Roswell and a nice fresh paint job on everything. Rooms are appointed with antique furniture to give you the 1800s feel. Breakfast is included when you stay with us (and a fine breakfast it is). Mountain air is thrown in for free, a medically proven slightly addictive aid to sleep. We have just reopened under new management and have a special introductory room rate of $89 per night. Come and stay awhile.
