In the old days, the mining company owned the mineral rights, the cabins, the shops and you company;scrip; was miners payment to be spent at the company store. These same miners labored for months along with local artists to create a spectacle of Christmas lights that Madrid became famous for. It is a special adventure to visit Madrid at Christmas time. Soak in our hot tub under the incredible starry nights. Take one of many walks into the hills and mesa. Our favorite is to old cemetery. Enjoy margaritas and two-stepping at our local tavern, the Mineshaft. Shop for unique finds in the many and varied shops and galleries one block from the Inn on Madrid's main street named The Turquiose Trail. Let us help you arrange a trail ride through the Cerrillos hills on horseback or spend a few hours on a guided hiking tour through a turquoise mining claim. Full healthy breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee or tea, juice, baked goods and eggs served between 8:00 and 9:30. Large, comfortably furnished suites each with a private sitting room. Private baths, balconies, coffee machines, refrigerators, microwaves, air conditioning and DVD player provided for each room. Your suite, with its own private entrance, is located on the main floor and is decorated with warm, rich terra-cotta faux finished walls and southwestern accents. There is a spacious private sitting room and balcony. The bedroom has a queen bed and the separate sitting room has a full futon and twin daybed making this a comfortable suite for a small family or friends traveling together.
