bathroom across the hall and it was not a problem. We knew there was not an elevator prior to our arrival but did not have problems with the stairs. If we did need help with the stairs the staff would be more than willing to help us. We walked to the Old Port section of Portland every day and evening and did not have any problems. Inn At Saint John: A very Nice Portland Inn Written by RickyShat on June 12, 2004. I have stayed at The Inn At St. John numerous times all seasons of the year. Its a very great value and an inn that offers very friendly staff and is comfortable. Located near enough to downtown Portland for a good walk to all attractions or just a fast
taxi ride for non walkers.. Inn At Saint John: Review by a OneTime.com User from Swampscott, MA Written on July 5, 2005. Arrived to late warm welcome on steamiest night of the year (short cab ride from train station). Cabbie said pizza across street was best in America but we opted for microbrews and
grilled portobello sandwich at great neighborhood spot next door, the Dogfish
Cafe.
Room up couple flights of narrow stairs and around a corner or two was very spacious, well-appointed, and mercifully well-
air conditioned; private
bath down hall a step or two likewise clean and spacious. Somewhat out of downtown at bottom of Congress St. hill in amongst gas stations etc. but near ballpark, Deering Oaks, and West End attractions.
