We knew there was not an elevator prior to our arrival but did not have problems with the stairs. If we did need help with the stairs the staff would be more than willing to help us. We walked to the Old Port section of Portland every day and evening and did not have any problems. It was about a 20-25 minute walk but a very easy walk. We would definitely go back again! Cabbie said pizza across street was best in America but we opted for microbrews and grilled portobello sandwich at great neighborhood spot next door, the Dogfish Cafe. Room up couple flights of narrow stairs and around a corner or two was very spacious, well-appointed, and mercifully well-air conditioned; private bath down hall a step or two likewise clean and spacious. Somewhat out of downtown at bottom of Congress St. hill in amongst gas stations etc. but near ballpark, Deering Oaks, and West End attractions.
