'Southfields' is fortunate in having two of Sheffields top restaurants within easy walking distance, both are featured in the Good Food Guide. In addition there is a good selection of wine bars, pubs and take away establishments within easy reach. Help is always on hand to direct guests to the wide variety of local amenities. Thyme (Formally Smiths of Sheffield). AA Guide - A change in name(from Smith's of Sheffield)and concept from last year's guide. Stylish, contemporary design is now the order of the day with pale wood, high backed chairs and occasional splashes of colour from some striking modern art. Top quality produce has always been a feature of Richard Smith's cooking and although the style of the operation may have changed, adherence to this important principle has not. 'Delightful' fishcakes come with good mixed leaves and a quenelle of creme freiche pepped up with some vibrant herbs. A well-judged dish of sesame crusted farmyard chicken breast arrives in the company of chargrilled sweet potato and sweet chilli jam with the result being 'an explosion of flavour'. Lime creme brulee with lemon and lime ice cream has also won special praise. At lunchtime the menu features superior versions of classics like Caesar salad, fillet steak burger and sausages (their own of course) and mash. Good Food Guide - An unobtrusive dark green door and a few steps announce the presence of the Bosworth`s unexpectedly spacious restaurant in an appealing residential sector of Sheffield. Italian designer lights, and a terracotta and pale yellow colour scheme, lend a hit of class, and the format is a simple one: fixed.price menus. dinners only. There is no shortage of imagination in the kitchen, and few contemporary ingredients that don't find a home somewhere. A pizza starter has come topped with duck confit, Brie and plum sauce, for example, while loin of lamb has been accompanied by a burger of pork and apple, black pudding and a calvados sauce. More straightforward dishes are well rendered too - chargrilled asparagus with shaved Parmesan, a poached egg and pesto - and accurate timing has made a success of olive~crusted cod in a well.judged creamy herby broth strewn with broad beans. Presentation is carefully attended to throughout, and the generally earthy and hearty style does not preclude a delicate touch when required: in poached pear with champagne jelly and cinnamon ice cream, for instance, which rounded off a satisfying inspection meal.. For a less formal meal try West 10 wine bar which is a 5 minute walk from 'Southfields'. Nonna's means Grandma's in Italian... Ecclesall Road is a bustling collection of shops, restaurants, bars and pubs, which is a favourite night time destination for many people. It is a short drive from 'Southfields' where you will find a wide variety of eating establishments to fit all tastes. One of the most popular is Nonna's A childhood spent in Italy and a well developed love of good food has led to the recreation of the best of Italy by owners Gian Bohan and Maurizio Mori. More than a restaurant, the Caffe Bar offers award winning coffee and authentic Italian cakes, the Deli stocks Italian produce much of which has been specially selected and carries the Nonna's label...and an Antipasto Bar, a brand new concept from very traditional roots.

Nowhere in Britain will you find an area with such varied landscape, such a richness of wildlife and such a wealth of cultural heritage as in the Peak District. The very special qualities of the area are well known to the people who live in the towns and cities that surround the Peak District but for visitors from further away, whether from Britain or abroad, the magic is just waiting to be discovered. This ancient lead - mining village is one of the most popular in the Peak District. There are 4 separate spectacular caverns awaiting visitors: the Blue John, Speedwell, Peak and Treak cliff Caverns. Between them they present a dazzling display of stalactites and stalagmites. Blue John, a translucent fluorspar peculiar to this area has been mined since Roman times and today 5cwt of stone a year is chiefly made into jewellery for tourists. he village itself is a delightful cluster of stone cottages and interesting inns, ringed by the limestone hills. It sits beneath the protection of a castle keep known as Peveril Castle. Built in Norman times by William I's illegitimate son William Peveril, it was to protect the king's rights to the forest that then covered vast areas of the Peak District. Haddon Hall is the finest example of a mediaeval manor house currently in existence in England. The hall is one of the seats of the Dukes of Rutland and lies alongside the River Wye, just south of Bakewll. The Rutlands used the hall very little in the 18th and 19th centuries, so it was almost unaltered since the end of the 16th century when the 9th Duke realised its importance and began restoration in the 1920s. The house is in a beautiful situation and is very well preserved - even down to kitchens straight from the 17th century. It also has some beautiful gardens. Bakewell in Derbyshire, is an ancient town in the centre of the Peak District National Park, founded in Saxon times. It is the home of the famous Bakewell Pudding. Bakewell has one of the oldest markets in the area, dating from at least 1300. The first recorded fair was held in 1254. Markets are still held every Monday and there is a thriving livestock market. The family home of the Duke Duchess of Devonshire for over 450 years. The house contains an outstanding collection of works of art, displayed on one of the longest routes through any house open to the public. As well as the house, the public can visit the gardens, farmyard, grounds, farm shop, adventure playground and garden centre.
