From I-295, take the Bath-Brunswick exit (Exit No. 28). Continue straight on Pleasant Street. At the intersection with Maine Street, turn right. Stay straight bearing right at the church (Bowdoin College is on the left). Continue onto Mere Point Road. You will pass Middle Bay Road (to Rte. 123) on your left. Stay on Mere Point Road for about 6.7 miles, passing Smith Boatyard on the left. About a half mile beyond, turn left onto Birch Island Road and bear left at the fork.
