Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, is often described as the pearl of the Western Hemisphere in literature, due to the beautiful white colonial buildings. Guesthouse Albergo Alberga, is located in one of these: tasteful, pleasant, rustic and typically Suriname. The premises, built during the late 19th century, and constructed entirely of wood, are listed as a World Heritage monument. Our Guesthouse is located in the hart of Paramaribo. In less than five minutes, one can walk to the entertainment district, Independence Square, the riverside (waterkant) and the shopping district. Seated on our large, green, wooden balcony, one looks out upon one of the best remaining preserved historical streets of Paramaribo. Typical Amerindian costumes, souvenirs and paintings by Suriname artists decorate the wall. Drinks are available at the bar, including the well known Djogo, Suriname beer.
