The Avenue Hotel Copenhagen. New internationally acclaimed Bar Manager. The Lounge of the Avenue Hotel is facing a bright and prosperous future with the recent employment of international superstar and suspected genious, R.R., as Bar Manager. Anonymous sources close to the enigma reveal that his intention is to align the lounge and bar concept perfectly with. L;Esprit de Avenue as he allegedly put it before vanishing in a mysterious haze. Personally, I translate this to him aiming for a relatively narrow selection of quality beverages served with the attention and care only Avenue Hotel employees will give you in surroundings you;ll find no where else. Of course, it could also mean topless waitresses and burlesque entertainment (however, I somehow doubt that). My final disclosure is an excerpt of a note found written in R.R.;s handwriting. It appears to be some sort of check list:. 100 years old cognac. world;s best spring water. organic beverages. signature cocktail (yellow). patio, fireplace, couches (lots). a meticulously hand picked selection of alcohol. Avenue Hotel going YouTube. You may have heard of it; this interesting site on the aptly named internet where one may;broadcast oneself;. Being the ever up-to-date people that we are here at Avenue Hotel when it comes to technology and trends we have put our very best and most talented employees on the project of getting our official video out there among the thousands of others. I am proud to report to you that the mission is a SUCCESS! Feast your eyes on the result. A+ problem / fully booked. With the Copenhagen Fashion Fair in fresh recollection things are now back to normal levels of sanity and no longer does the champagne flow freely every evening in the Lounge. On a personal level, I am looking forward to the August C.F.F. in the hopes of meeting and talking to as many interesting people as this time around. Already we are sold out for the period which leads me to the next carriage in my train of thoughts. Ever since the hotel was redesigned we now far more frequently encounter what I would like to call the positive problem of being fully booked (thus the title;A +/positive problem;; the poor attempt at comedy being that our top rooms are designated as A+ rooms). Obviously, we would like nothing more than being able to accomodate every single person interested in having an Avenue Experience(TM) but sadly real life physics prevent that. In order to always offer the best service possible to companies, groups and individuals looking to book a room we have gone through the booking procedures and for the common good any reservations made will need to have a certain substantiality to them, just as in every other serious business dealing out there. Assumptions leave room for misunderstandings so it is our aim to get as clear and firm deals as possible, for both our sake and yours. Make your reservation before your neighbor! Attack of the Fashion Police. Only a few days left before Copenhagen Fashion Week officially begins which means the hotel will be bustling with activity (even more so than usual) and from Wednesday till Saturday various events will take place in the lounge: presentation/tasting of wine, coffee, chocolate and artistic cocktail flaring (think Tom Cruise in;Cocktail;). At the same time our new Yellow Lounge cocktail will be presented. From what I heard the person who came up with it allegedly possesses super human mind powers, charm, looks and great hair. Don;t take my word for it, though. Furthermore, there;s a slight and noticeable increase in the AOBL (Average Overall Beauty Level) with every other hotel guest being either a model or a fashion big shot. Although their presence certainly makes me look less attractive I can;t say that I mind them being here and judging from previous years they also enjoy staying at Avenue Hotel. Wednesday, Febraury 6, 6 to 8 pm Black Sambuca. Thursday, February 7, 9 to 11 pm Italian Coffee, chocolates and serenades. Friday, February 8, 6 to 8 pm International wine. Saturday, February 9, 6 to 8 pm Cocktail flaring and premiere. Yellow Lounge on tour. It;s a bird. It;s a plane. No, it;s Yellow Lounge. Never heard of it, have you? Allow me to enlighten you. Yellow Lounge is a concept mixing acclaimed DJs, classical music, beautiful surroundings and an altogether spectacular brunch. For the past two years, approximately once a month guests and locals have been able to experience it here at the hotel but this year Yellow Lounge will go on tour throughout the land. With only two more Yellow Lounges hosted at this venue in 2008 (February 2nd and March 1st) I have decided to try and make up for all my wrongdoings by taking my girlfriend to the upcoming brunch. Hopefully she will enjoy it so much that she;ll forgive me for all my sins and as a bonus I will of course be able to give you guys reading this a suitably biased review of the brunch and the experience. It;ll be interesting to listen to the live DJ mixes of classical music. Who knows; If I like it enough I may even pick up the recently publicized 2-disc record from Deutsche Grammophon aptly named; The Avenue Feeling;. First and foremost, though, I look forward to be drinking some good Cava and enjoying the quality food. It;ll be quite the change from the distilled water or rain water, pure-grain alcohol and pastries I usually stuff my face with. (Did you catch the movie reference?). Closed for the holidays. We are closed for the holidays from December 21 to January 3. The Avenue Hotel would like to wish all who celebrate the two a merry Christmas and a happy New Year and to everyone else happy holidays. We look forward to be seeing and/or hearing from you in 2008! And last but not least, a quote to sum up my personal Christmas experience:;I asked for riches, that I may be happy; I was given poverty, that I might be wise.; Lazlos Chinese Relativity Axiom. Early morning wake up call. The fire alarm is working, alright; Not too long ago at around 7am when I was about to head home from the hotel, just having stayed a bit longer to chat with the lovely Pia (the Reception Manager), the fire alarm suddenly sounded. Fire drills of the past paying off, we knew what we had to do, but one still gets a bit anxious and I definitely had worst case scenarios running through my head as I ran up the stairs for the room from which the alarm originated. Having knocked hard on the door a few times I was about to unlock it with my key when a somewhat confused looking guest opened it, and immediately I was met with a foggy sensation, giving away exactly what had triggered the alarm. Apparently, the wife had taken a very long and very warm shower while having the door to the bedroom wide open. Once the room had been turned into a Turkish sauna the sensors had thought; What the;; and the rest is history. After having opened the windows to get in some fresh air, I made my way back down to brief the staff and guests of what had happened. Everyone was relieved and took the whole thing with a smile, although a few of our guests made some humorous comments to the brutal nature of our wake up calls. Luckily, this time I could forget about shouting Ye Olde;women and children first;. Rest assured, though, the heroic Avenue Team (excluding myself) would have went down with the ship while playing the violin. P.S. Just so that management doesn;t kill me, let me clarify that this hotel is as safe as they get and staying here is statistically much safer than staying at home (where we all know most accidents happen). Welcome to the Avenue Hotel Blog. September 19th, 2007. My name is Rasmus and I;m responsible for keeping you, dear reader, up to date on happenings, events and odd occurrences taking place at the Avenue Hotel. I...

Good food and music have always complimented and enhanced each other. The new Yellow Lounge concept, which is already a success all over Europe, has been introduced at the Avenue Hotel. The concept was thought out by the people behind the world famous Deutsche Grammofon, with its equally famous Yellow logo. The Yellow Lounge concept was developed to demonstrate that classical music can flourish outside the daunting walls of the concert hall and in completely different surroundings. The idea is that the DJ from his unit plays a mixed repertoire, tied artfully together with delightful intermezzos, the music of, for example, Debussy to John Barry to Brian Eno - creating a friendly and exhilarating atmosphere Chill-out, listen, enjoy, taste…… Avenue Hotel has the perfect set out, kitchen and staff for the Yellow Lounge Concept. Therefore, together with Deutsche Grammophon in Denmark, Avenue has arranged a number of events. For further information please contact: Avenue Hotel: Mai Kappenberger, 35373111 Yellow Lounge: Hans Sorensen, Deutsche Grammophon, Denmark, 33912110 Yellow Lounge can be enjoyed on the following dates and locations: 5/4 – Hotel Opus, Horsens 26/4 – Apollon, Struer 31/5 – Apollon, Struer 30/8 – Apollon, Struer 27/9 – Apollon, Struer 25/10 – Apollon, Struer 29/11 – Apollon, Struer. Yellow Lounge was introduced in 2000 and has since spread with success to cities like Berlin, Vienna, Stockholm and Salzburg. The idea from the start was to tear classical music out of the concert halls and into completely different, exciting and innovative environments, where it could meet new audiences and be presented in new surroundings. Many star entertainers have been involved in the concept. Anne Sophie von Otter and Elvis Costello have visited Yellow Lounge in Berlin, where also Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys has appeared as guest DJ. Latest, Sting has introduced “Songs from the Labyrinth”, a CD made for Deutsche Grammophon, at the Yellow Lounge in Berlin. At Avenue Hotel there will be two DJs who will throw themselves into the special Yellow Lounge genre: KATRINE RING Katrine is one of Denmark’s most knowledgeable and diverse DJs mastering all genres and styles in her very own, special way. Many will remember Katrine from Danish Radio’s P3 in the 80s, where she was among those who broke the ice for electronic and underground music. Katrine also writes as a music critic on various magazines, publications and newspapers. With her outstanding musical overview, Katrine Ring mixes the classical masters with modern electronic artists. PEER KAAE Music journalist and D.J., who throughout the 90s made portrait and music programmes on Danish Radio’s P3, has since been employed by Sky Radio. Peer Kaae mixes the traditional classical repertoire with the modern tones of John Barry, Pet Shop Boys and Hans Zimmer. Today Peer works as consultant for Universal Music.
