The Hostel in Akureyri is situated in the centre of the city, by the main road Horgarbraut. Akureyri, the capital of the north with 17,000 inhabitants, offers many interesting and enjoyable sights and activities for the visitors. Near the Hostel you find all the service a city has to offer. Assistance is provided for handicapped people. In Akureyri you can buy a lot of guided day tours and longer tours, for example to Myvatn, Dettifoss, Eyjafjorour, Skagafjorour, Hrisey, Grimsey and Olafsfjorour. There are daily tours to Greenland from Akureyri during the summer. In the hostel there are 2 guest kitchen with a dining rooms. Availbale rooms with showers and bathrooms. Akureyri Hostel also offers two new summerhouses which can accommodate 7 persons each also there is a cabin that takes 4 persons, this cabin has a bathroom and sink. Laugarvatn is a village with 300 inhabitants and is located midway between Þingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir, 100 km from Reykjavik. The Hostel is located in 3 houses, all of them have well equipped guest kitchens and a living room with TV. Two of the houses have hot tubs available for the guests and the third one is next to an outdoor swimming pool. One of the buildings has rooms with en-suite facilities. In the village you will find, in addition to a great swimming pool, a post office, grocery store and a restaurant. The Hostel does not accept cards but there is an ATM next doors to the main building and the reception. Guests can hire boats or sailboards to use at lake Laugarvatn and the area is great for hiking. Just outside Laugarvatn there is a golf course and possibilites for angling in waters and rivers. The Hostel has an Econoliner for 13 passengers and groups can book pick-up, e.g. from Keflavik airport, or tours to Landmannalaugar and the Highlands. Next Hostels: Arnes, 57 km - Reykjavik 100 km. As the Hostel is very close to the International Airport in Keflavik it is often called the Hostel by the airport. Njarovik and the area around has much more to offer than easy access to the airport. A few examples of activities you can find are fishing, sea angling, whale watching, golf courses and for the ones who wish to visit museums you can among others find mariene wildlife centre and a trout and salmon museums. For birdwatchers the area offers several locations to rival the best, among them are Hafnarberg, Garoskagi, Reykjanesta og Krisuvikurbjarg. And last but not least, only 15 min from the hostel you will find The Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland´s most popular tourist attractions. Next Hostels: Reykjavik, 45 km Hostel by the airport. There are 5 daily buses to and from Reykjavik. The bus stop is only 10 minutes walk from FIT Hostel, 850 ISK per person. During the summer there are also buses to and from the Blue Lagoon. Is free at the hostel. In this area are two sea ports, one of the is only 10 minutes walk from the hostel and the other about 30 minutes walk away. With the sea on three sides and Vatnajokull, the biggest glacier in Europe, to the northwest, Hofn is a breathtakingly lovely town with 1500 inhabitants. The town is a bustling fishing and fish processing port as well as a commercial centre, with considerable farming in the neighbouring areas. The Hostel is to be found in the city centre and all necessary services are close by. The location of Hofn allows you to choose from an unusual variety of activities. Boat tours, glacier tours on jeeps or snowmobiles, riding tours, jeeps and hiking tours in Lonsorafi. Next Hostels: Vagnstaoir, 50 km - Berunes, 140 km. Close to the biggest glacier in Europe. January 01st - December 31st. All buses from Egilsstaoir, Reykjavik, and Skaftafell stop at Hofn. On request the buses drive guests to the Hostel and pick them up. Hofn is located on Road no. 1. The airport is only 7 km from the Hostel and during the summer there are number of direct flights from Reykjavik and other places to Hofn every day. Hafaldan Hostel accommodates people in 2 different buildings. One Is the main building at Ranargata 9 at the fjords north side with it´s homey atmosphere and good view to the fjord. That is where you check in and get the instruction how to find the other building if you stay there. The other building is a beautiful, wooden, heritage house in town-center at Suourgata 8. In both buildings we offer the same facilities for our guests. Suourgata with its more spacious rooms and sheltered veranda has got only one shower though, so people staying there are offered a free admittance to the local swimming pool next door. Both houses have excellent common facilities like kitchens, dining and sitting areas and Internet connection. Washing machine for both hostels is at Ranargata. In Suourgata we have 4 double rooms, 3, 4 bedded rooms and 3, 6 bedded rooms. At Ranargata there are 3 double rooms and 4, 4 bedded rooms. Next Hostels: Berunes, 110 km - Husey, 83 km. Arrival and departure point for MS Norrona. April 1st - November 1st. During the summer there are daily bus connections between Egilsstaoir and Seyoisfjorour. The ferry Norrona comes once a week, on Thursdays, from Norway and the Faroe Islands. Seyoisfjorour is situated 27 km from Egilsstaoir by road no. 93.
