Situated on five acres with a pastoral view, a view of the Coastal Mountains and Mount Baker, Galiano Woodruff is located on a quiet road close to forested walks and secluded beaches; and yet only a short drive from the local stores, marina and restaurants. You'll find cycling, kayaking, boating, horse-back excursions, or just relaxation. Both Bluff Park and Matheson Point (a newly acquired park) are within walking distance. Matheson Point provides a secluded beach where you can sleep the day away or watch the ferries go by. We also offer two complimentary bicycles. Galiano Island Accommodation: Galiano Woodruff BB. Galiano is one of British Columbia's southerly Gulf Islands. It is situated midway betwen Vancouver on the Lower Mainland and Victoria on Vancouver Island. For readers not so familiar with the area, Galiano is situated in the Gulf Islands between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. This is a lush area, of spectacular forests, rocks and wildlife. But because of the sheltering effect of Vancouver Island, we receive only about 25 inches of rain per year; a very pleasant medium. Galiano is 17 miles long and is three miles wide at its widest point (the south end of the island). Galiano Woodruff Bed and Breakfast is located at the southerly end of the island, two kilometers from the ferry terminal. More on Galiano Island's Natural Beauty. THE SURROUNDING NATURAL BEAUTY. BC's Gulf Islands provide naturalists, artists and other explorers with a wonderful and increasingly rare opportunity to relax and wander the quiet forests and along the beaches where life offers itself in abundance. Galiano, with 1000 permanent residents on 35 square kilometers, is characterized by its sculpted sandstone shores, huge curving arbutus trees and soaring eagles. Numbers of eagles nest on the island, and one arbutus was measured by a friend at 18 feet in diameter! Galiano features a network of protected areas comprising over 12% of the island, including Dionisio Point Park and Coon Bay. This beautiful 350 acre park offers some of the most striking views and walks in the Gulf Islands, and promises a profusion of spring wildflowers. You'll have direct access to miles of hiking trails bringing you to one of the most outstanding spots in this area of BC; Coon Bay. A few miles to the south is Bodega Ridge, another Galiano treasure.
