Welcome to Verandah House. Verandah House is an historic grade II listed building, located in the centre of Stowmarket, and is a fine example of a Georgian gentlemans residence. Built originally around 1700, a cottage and stables were added to the original house in 1729. Later in the mid 1800s the main house and cottage were joined together with the addition of a substantial Victorian extension, to provide the charming house we now enjoy today. Our house is less than 100m from the Regal Theatre, and little more than a five minute stroll from the Market Place, yet Verandah House is surprisingly quiet and peaceful within its tranquil walled garden. Directions to Verandah House. From A14 West-Bury St Edmunds towards Ipswich At the 50mph restrictions, Haughley, pass petrol station and Tudor Rose furniture showroom on your left and take the slip road off to Stowmarket. At the roundabout go left. At the next roundabout take 2nd left (Gipping Way) and continue to the traffic lights (VW showroom on far left corner). Go straight across and take the second turning on the right - Hollingsworth Road. Turn right at the roundabout and Verandah House is on the right (Cream Georgian House with white shutters). Parking is available through the 5 bar gate. From A14 East - Ipswich towards Bury St Edmunds At approx.10 miles from the A12 junction take the slip road off to Stowmarket. At the next roundabout (Tescos on your right) take the first exit (straight across). At the traffic lights turn right towards Stowmarket. At the next roundabout take the third exit (Gipping Way). Take the next turning left which is Hollingsworth Road.Turn right at the roundabout and Verandah House is on the right (Cream Georgian House with white shutters). Parking is available through the 5 bar gate.

Set in 1/4 acre of beautiful walled English Country garden, a pond and vine-clad pergola provide a perfect setting for complete relaxation. Situated in Stowmarket in Suffolk, Verandah House sits mid-way between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. The town is surrounded by peaceful rural landscapes and many picturesque villages. The delightful Heritage Coast towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are within easy reach, as is Lavenham, probably the most resplendant of the Suffolk wool towns. Even the beauty of Dedham Vale in the heart of Constable Country is only a short drive away. It would be hard to find a better environment or location for your visit, all this together with plenty of private parking secured behind a five-bar gate. All year round, for business or pleasure, we will do our very best to make your stay memorable and happy.

At Verandah House there is a wide choice of twin, double and family rooms, of which single occupancy can be offered at a reduction, including one ground floor double/twin, most of which have en-suite facilities. All rooms have hospitality trays, digital freeview television and guest information folder. The breakfast menu at Verandah House caters for all tastes, including special diets. Whether you are a yoghurt and cheese platter person or someone who wishes to start the day with a full Suffolk English Breakfast, your choice will be freshly prepared and cooked to order - just as you like it! Deposit and Cancellations Once you have booked your stay, our agreement is a legal contract and any deposit you may have paid is non-refundable. If you need to cancel please contact us immediately and we will do everything we can to re-let the accommodation, if we are successful we will make no further charge, if we are not, the charge for the first night of your stay becomes payable. If you suddenly cut short your stay then you are liable to pay for 50% of the remainder outstanding days. Failing to take up your booking without canceling, renders you liable for the total amount of your stay. For this reason you may wish to take out cancellation insurance. Non-availability We would only ever cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would always attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however, if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you then we would refund ALL monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund. Payment We regret that we do not accept debit/credit cards. Cheques (with Bankers card) are acceptable, made payable Verandah House Arrival and Departure Arrival is normally between 12:00 noon and 6:00pm and departure before 10:30am. Should you find these times inconvenient, please contact us. No Smoking Policy This house and any area within it is smoke free.
