The holy magic Egyptian bird that was reborn from its ashes it is the Phoenix. The beginning of existing of the building can be dated back to 1875. When the owner, Adolf Strauss, was granted the building permission. The work did not last long. The great opening took place in 1886. From the very beginning the building was destined for tourism and it was named Strauss Hotel. Together with western wing that does not exist now there were 48 rooms. All the time the owner was modernising his building and his efforts were no pointless. In 1898 the building was announced as the most attractive and elegant in the whole valley. From the very beginning without any doubts, the prime advantages of the Hotel were: nearby railway line, and the railway station that provided the tourists the best connection not only with Germany, but with many other European cities. In 1927 the Hotel was taken over by Georg Brendel. The new owner decided to enlarge the building and make it more attractive, new verandas and rooms. Three years later the garages and a large parking were built. In years 1939-1945 the Hotel became a property of local authorities and the Army. Two years later the Hotel was taken over by The National Tourists' and Countrylovers' Society (Pastwowe Towarzystwo Turystyczno-Krajoznawcze) and under its auspices the Hotel endured until the early nineties. Next few years it reminded neglected and day after day it was going to fall into ruin. With the third millennium like the Phoenix,it was reborn from the ashes and it is alive again.
