Some excerpts from the website of The Old English Lodge that might be useful
The Old English Fishing Lodge at the River Langa is 6 km to the west of the small town of Borgarnes, about one hour drive from Reykjavik. On the
banks of the Langa, one of the most famous salmon rivers of the country, it was originally built by Englishmen in 1884 and is the oldest lodge in Iceland. Until recently it was only for fishermen at the river, but last year it was turned into a guesthouse. There are
10 double bedrooms in the lodge, five of them with a
bathroom each. There is also a
dining-room, two sitting-
rooms, a
kitchen, storage's, cooler and some spare
rooms. Guests and groups are able to choose service from simple sleeping bag accommodation to full service/hotel style accommodation with
breakfast,
lunch and
dinner. The lodge has been remodeled and reconstructed repeatedly through the years. During the reconstruction special attention was paid to the history of the house. Tradition, coziness and the fact that the lodge is run as a small family
business are the things we want out guests to notice. The fishing lodge used to be the fisherman's home and during his fishing he should feel comfortable. The same is now our goal for our guests.
