Lakeside is the starting point for the Windermere Lake Cruise to Bowness and Ambleside. Lakeside station is the end of the line for the Lakeside and Haverthwaite standard gauge steam railway. This pleasure steam train will carry you along the three and a half miles picturesque route through the valley of the River Leven. Leaving Junction 36 of the M6 follow A592 (Windermere) take 1st exit and follow A590 signposted Newby Bridge. At 1st roundabout take 2nd exit. At 2nd roundabout carry straight on and take 1st right. Go over bridge and past The Swan Hotel. Follow road AA signposted Aquarium of the Lakes for approx. one mile.
