Artist Hugh Niblock has been drawing and painting since early Childhood. While a philosophy undergraduate at University of Toronto, he was the cartoonist for The Varsity, the daily university paper. Upon graduation, he was commissioned to paint an extensive mural of university life in Hart House. This led to a scholarship to study art in England. He then taught art in England and Canada while devoting his spare time to his painting. Since 1988 he has become a full time artist and partner in Galerie Gale in Midland. He has pursued many avenues of expression from bold oil abstracts and veiled acrylic colourfield paintings to his more recent flowing watercolours. Most of his current works are Georgian Bay landscapes, usually with human activity in the form of boating,
skiing and golfing.
