Things to do in Midland and Area. Take a leisurely
bike along an abandoned rail line between Penetang and Perkinsfield or challenge the natural half pipes that occasionally crop up on the more aggressive trails. All a short
bike or car ride from the Victorian Inn. is close by offering mountain
bike trails and rentals. For a more scenic ride, enjoy the trails along the Wye Marsh or along the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay. Take a short paddle through the Wye Marsh and enjoy all the waterfowl or take a day long paddle on the Gibson McRae loop. Start on the Gibson River, into the Mu
squash River and on into Georgian Bay. Follow the shore behind Bone Island and into McRae lake. Other canoe routes are available, ask your hosts for suggestions or a guide along one of the many routes. Enjoy a day of
golf at one of the areas many
golf courses. In Midland there is the. Midland
Golf and Country
Club.
Golf course. Close by, is the. John or Carol will be happy to arrange a tee-time for you. Charter a boat for some serious trout, salmon or Musky fishing or bring up your own boat and try for some large or small mouth bass in the many bays and islands that make Georgian Bay such an attraction. Take a hike around the Wye Marsh or drive out to McRae Lake and hike out to Crows Cliffs or all the way to Georgian Bay, make it a half or whole day. Talk to Carol or John about packing a
lunch for the
trip. If theres a breeze, it will be out at Balm Beach, a short 15 min drive from the Victorian Inn. If the winds die down, enjoy the natural sand beaches that stretch all the way down to Wasaga Beach. Midland is conviently located close to. Mount St-Louis/Moonstone. Mountain View
Ski Area. (705-526-8149). There are many cross-country
skiing trails in the immediate area. Try the unique groomed Wye Marsh trails or the many trails at Awenda Provincial Park. Ask John for more details. From Toronto: 400 North to Hwy 93 West to Midland. Turn Right onto Hugel and follow it down to Fifth Street. The house is on the left hand side, entrance can be gained either from Hugel or Fifth. From the North: Take the Hwy 12 West from either Hwy 11 or 69. Exit right onto King Street, Drive North and turn left onto Hugel Avenue. The house is on the right at the corner of Hugel and Fifth Streets.
