garden scheme. Dartmouth in Bloom is a very active organisation and many of the
restaurants, guest Houses,
pubs,
shops and residents wholeheartedly join in the annual scramble to make the very most of their floral displays, and maybe catch the eye of the Judges and win a prize. The Captains House was highly recommended last year, and achieved 3rd position in 2005. The town is always a hot contender for the Britain in Bloom competition and has in the past won the title. There are cruises to suit all including Wildlife cruises, a Dartmouth Harbour cruise, evening cruises with food and entertainment, and many more. Water sports including Sailing,
windsurfing, canoeing and Kayaking can be enjoyed in Dartmouth and at the Local beaches with activities to suit all abilities from novice to experienced. The local beaches are beautiful to the south of Dartmouth can be found, Black
pool sands, Strete Gate, Slapton Sands, Torcross, Beesands, Hallsands and Startpoint the beaches are all very different, each one having its own special magical feel.

bedroom is to the front of the house and the
bathroom to the rear of the house. Exposed Beams and period windows add to the charm of the

single room is a charming
room, it has limited head height in places under a sloping ceiling, this is reflected in the
rooms tariff, the
bathroom ceiling height is 511 (people were not as tall in 1740). It is quite a climb to the Top of the Captains House, which may make this
room unsuitable for some guests, who may prefer to reserve single occupancy of a
double room.

Dartmouth is located on the south west tip of Devon. From London, the South East and the North, follow the M5 south, past Exeter. Just after Exeter, the motorway then turns into the A38 dual carriageway. Continue towards Plymouth along the A38 and take the junction signposted for Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge (about 20 minutes drive from the Exeter Junction). From The A38 Exit From the A38 junction, follow the signs to Totnes, passing through Dartington. On approach to Totnes, take a right - signposted to Dartmouth and Salcombe. Follow that road for about 6 miles across country passing through Harbertonford. At the BP
garage at Hallwell Cross, turn left and follow the road for 6 miles to Dartmouth. In Dartmouth As you enter Dartmouth, you will see a Park and Ride on the right. Go across the roundabout, past the BP
garage on your right and continue down the hill past the Britannia Royal Naval College on your left. At the bottom of the hill you are in a one way system. Keep to the left hand lane and follow the signs to the Town. (The right hand lane is for the ferry). Follow the embankment and before the zebra crossing, turn right into Mayors Avenue. The main car park is directly on your left.
Parking We respectfully ask guests not to park in the driveway / car-port at the side of the Captain's House as it is not our property. During the duration of your stay we supply a
parking permit allowing free use of the Dartmouth Park and ride, the Mayors Avenue car park and various long stay car parks in South Hams. The permit does not guarantee a
parking space and is not valid in Reserved
parking bays. On Foot from the Car Park-Tourist Information
Centre. The Captain's House is just a couple of minutes walk from the car park. Opposite the main entrance/exit to the car park is Kings Quay which leads to Clarence Street. Glance to your right and you'll see the Captain's House.
