HUHTINIEMI CAMPING (* * *) is a beautiful and peaceful camping area by the lake Saimaa, and yet only about 2 kilometres from the Lappeenranta centre. In the campings 12 hectares there are 44 cottages, holiday apartments, youth hostel, 120 lots for caravans (80 with power supply) and 120 lots for tents. There is always room for one more traveller! We have three sanitary buildings with showers, toilets, kitchen and laundry for all the camping customers to use. One of the sanitary buildings is also heated in the winter. There are several open fire places in the camping. Our beaches are well suited for both kids and adults and naturally there is a sauna by the lake. CAMPING COTTAGES are an affordable option for accommodation. In the cottages there are two bunk beds, table and chairs, refrigerator, heating and light. Linen can be bought from the reception if needed. Showers, toilets and kitchen are in the sanitary buildings. These cottages are in use for the summer season until the middle of September. We have two HOLIDAY APARTMENTS (open around the year) for 4-6 persons. Both apartments have a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom. There is a possibility to attach one extra bedroom (3 beds) to the apartments, when more space is needed. We have 3 dormitory rooms, each for 6 persons in the HUHTINIEMI YOUTH HOSTEL. Services are in the sanitary buildings. There are cottages on an island (NUOTTASAARI) as well. Nuottasaari is situated near the mainland camping. There are altogether 8 cottages for 4-6 persons. Each cottage has a rowing boat, the distance between Nuottasaari and mainland is about 500 metres. There is one sauna on the island for Nuottasaari customers to use and it is, of course, on the sandy beach. Our camping area is a member of the Finnish Camping Association and therefore we accept the Camping Card Scandinavia. It is required in camping areas in Finland and gives a reasonable discount in camping costs. In 1996 Finland introduced a new, five category classification of camping areas. According to this new classification we have 3 stars.

Our hostel Finnhostel has 20 spacious double rooms, altogether 80 beds including extra beds.All rooms are non-smoking. Rooms are situated in a two-storey-building. All rooms have a bathroom, a television and a radio. You can enjoy our daily breakfast buffet as well as meals and refreshments in our Cafe-Restaurant. Saunas are heated by order and include the use of our swimming pool. Finnhostel is open all year round. Finnhostel is a member of the Finnish Youth Hostel Association and is one of the Key Hostels. Key Hostels are Finnish high standard city-hostels, which operate all year round. Thanks to their central location, fair size, versatile services and affordable prices they offer high standard accommodation for both individual travellers and groups.

Our Cafe-Restaurant offers breakfast every morning. We serve also meals, refreshments and alcohol drinks. We have several saunas by the lake as well as by a swimming pool. The city is only a stone's throw away and yet the beautiful nature is everywhere around us. The South Carelia Sports Centre is near for all the sports enthusiasts and miniature golf offers a fun pastime.

In the Finnhostel we have a Cafe-Restaurant (max. 100 persons) and an outdoor terrace in June-August. Breakfast buffet is served every morning. We also serve snacks, such as the local delicacies vety and atomi (meat pastries) and meals. We are licensed to serve alcohol as well. For groups we offer half or full board by advance order. Saunas are heated by order in the hostel by the indoor pool as well as by the lake Saimaa in the camping area. It is possible to rent rowing boats and bicycles from the reception. Miniature golf is situated near the camping area and the South Carelia Sports Centre is not far away either.

Huhtiniemi Tourist Resort is about 2,5 kilometres west from the centre of Lappeenranta, by the lake Saimaa. The first sign posts to Huhtiniemi can be found along the road number 6, when coming from either Helsinki or Imatra direction. From the centre you can get to us on the bus number 1 and 3 and from the new bus and train terminal on the bus number 5.
