Pool One of the most popular nature sites in Dominica, the Emerald
Pool is located in an attractive area of lush rainforest. Its river and small waterfall provide excellent bathing after trekking on a well-defined trail which meanders through species of ferns, lizards and sub canopy trees. Carib Indian Village OThe Carib Indian Village is home to some of the few remaining indigenous Carib Indians in the world. Now numbering about 3,400, these handsome, high-cheeked and slender eyed inhabitants occupy an area of 3,782 acres that form the Carib Territory. Visitors can purchase handcrafted Carib souvenirs from
shops constructed in the traditional thatching style. Ti Tou Gorge At;Ti Tou Gorge; (;little throat hole) -one of the wonders of Dominica - swimming swim up the throat of a mountain to a waterfall located inside the gorges offers a truly breathtaking experience. The intricate wall formation, formed thousands of years ago is a true marvel of nature. Trafalgar Falls Trafalgar Falls; the most popular waterfalls in Dominica; are about five miles from the capital, Roseau. An easy ten-minute walk takes you through a secondary forest on to a viewing platform overlooking the twin falls known as;mother; and;father; because of their size. Visitors can swim under the supervision of a guide at the base of the;mother; falls. Indian River Going up the Indian River in a rowing boat is a favorite
tour for locals and visitors alike. It is located in the second town, Portsmouth and about an hour;s drive from the capital. The river ranges in depth from 4.5 inches to ten feet and from a width of 143 feet narrows to only 14 feet just upstream of a wooden jetty beside the
bar. The
banks of the river are lined with mangroves and dotted with holes made by the small spotted black crabs with red legs and whitish pincers known locally as;red legs; It is also a favorite haunt of great blue heron, common egret, cattle egret and ringed kingfisher. Wintering ospreys looking for fish also visit the river estuary between November and April. Milton Falls Another of Dominica;s breathtaking waterfalls, Milton Falls offers the visitor the chance to bathe in one of the most spectacular
pools in the midst of our pristine rainforest. It is relatively close to the Syndicate Rainforest which is the haunt for the rare and endangered Sisserou Parrot and the red-necked Jacquot parrot. Major forest trees such as gommye, chatannye, bwa dyab, bwa kot, karapit and maho kochon are labeled for identification; bird watchers would feast on the bird species such as the purple-throated caribs, tree. Breakfast Daily Victoria Falls, Boiling Lake, Cross Island Hike Layou River Gorge, Reditan Hike
Airport Transfers Single; US$ 1525.00 Double; US$ 972.00 per person Double with Non Adventurer; US$ 797.00. Victoria Falls; dramatic as they are majestic, the Victoria Falls will challenge your
fitness; hiking from Delices, a village in the east of the island, you cross the river at several points scrambling over huge boulders to reach the base of the waterfall which culminates in a pristine
pool; the water;s milky hue comes from the accumulation of numerous sulphurous minerals over the years. Excellent for swimming and a natural skin cleanser, this adventure offers a bonus which you cannot afford to miss. (5-6 hours). Boiling Lake; said to be the second largest in the world, this
tour will give you some of the most spectacular sights ever seen. From the village of Laudat to the Valley of Desolation through cascades of natural hot suphurous
showers, you enter secondary rain forest passing through stands of the only native conifer in Dominica, Podocarpus cariceus. To upland valleys and down minor gorges onto ridges clothed in elfin woodland of kaklen (Clusia mangle), you come to hot steaming vents and geysers in the Valley of Desolation carpeted with sulphurous vegetation of mosses and lichens. Normally measuring up to 200ft in diameter with rock walls of 60-100ft high and a depth exceeding 195 ft, with water temperature over 92C, the Lake has recently cooled. This has led to increased interest making the experience all the more challenging. (6-7 hrs). Cross Island Hike; a challenging hike takes you up the rich foliage of the Roseau Valley to the *Freshwater Lake; cross island hike to the village of Grand Fond (French for Big Ditch) and to the Rosalie River for a refreshing swim and picnic
lunch; you return to the capital city, Roseau through the Antrim Valley and the Imperial Road. (6/7 hrs). Layou River Gorge - Dominica;s largest and longest river with its precipitous tall cliff overhanging the river offers the visitor one of the most exciting natural experiences ever. Crossing valleys and ridges, one can bathe in the Layou river itself with its diversity of freshwater fish; mullets and gobies are particularly common. This exciting trek takes one high into the interior through a series of gorges once used by Maroon slaves as a hide-out. Scrambling over rocks, wading through the river and swimming down rapids, one needs to be physically fit to take on this trek which can be extremely challenging. (7 hrs). Peditan Hike - is a Hike from Pichlen which ends in Grandbay (6-8 hrs)
