The Zouak Room has a painstakingly hand-painted ornate ceiling. Zouak is a technique of painting decorative patterns with a very fine brush. It is a technique perfected in Marrakech, but one that graces all of the grand residences and palaces of the kingdom. The ceiling, closet doors, bed frame, and bedside tables are all done with this painstaking technique. The walls are made of a warm golden-coloured tadelakt (a plaster technique which leaves a shiny surface that looks somewhat like marble).
