The Kingsway is an elegant Victorian terraced property on the tree lined Columbus Ravine situated on the North side of Scarborough. We aim to meet the needs of all our guests however due to the nature of the property this can make access for guests with limited mobility difficult. The Kingsway is located on a gentle hill with steps leading up to the front door. Our bedrooms are on two levels with stairs leading up to both. This makes it unsuitable for people in wheelchairs. The Kingsway is located on a main road with easy access by car. The nearest bus stop to the town centre is 200yards away. There is also a bus stop approximately the same distance away for buses between Scarborough and York or Leeds. Scarborough Railway Station is approx ¾ mile away. There are plenty of taxis available from the station and we have contact with local taxi firms and are happy to pre book taxis from the hotel. We do not accept pets. Arrival Car Parking Facilities. When making a booking please let us know your estimated time of arrival. Rooms are available from 2.00 pm but if you arrive earlier you may leave your luggage. We ask that rooms be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure. Parking is on the street outside the guest house. We issue free parking permits for the duration of your stay. There is secure parking available for motorbikes and cycles. We are walker and cyclist friendly. Assistance with luggage is always available. Main Entrance Reception. There are two steps leading up to the entrance door from the outside. Please ring the bell on arrival. There is a reception desk in the hallway where you can check in and register. There is also a bell on the bar in the dining room/bar area which you can ring for assistance at any time. The front door leads through the lobby and inner door to a carpeted hallway, stairs, guest lounge and dining room/bar. There are two comfortable settees in the guest lounge with television including freeview and DVD player. The dining room has separate tables for each room. We also have a fully licensed bar. We have two sets of stairs leading between the ground and first and second floors. Both sets of stairs have handrails. All rooms have central heating including the guest lounge, which also has a fire. The public toilet is located on the first floor. Lounge/ Dining Room/Bar. The lounge is always available for guests to relax in. There are two reclining settees, one two seater and one three seater. There is a colour television with freeview and a DVD player and a bookcase with a variety of books to choose from. We have a fully licensed bar offering a variety of drinks. There are separate tables in the dining room which is fully carpeted. We provide evening meals on request, six days a week, not on a Sunday. Please order one day in advance or when booking. We have seven bedrooms, three double, two family and two single. All are carpeted, except for the en-suites in which the floors are vinyl. All rooms have central heating. All rooms except the singles are en-suite. The single rooms have the use of a private shower room. We provide hospitality trays in each room with tea, coffee and biscuits. Each room has its own colour television and alarm. Hair dryers are available on request. The bedrooms are located over two floors. There is a shower room on the first floor with WC. The shower is used mainly by the two single rooms. All other rooms have en suites with showers. There are no baths available for guests. Additional Information. A full fire alarm system is in operation. Fire Extinguishers are located around the guest house and clearly marked. Please read the fire instructions on the back of the door in your room. If you have difficulty hearing please let us know. All fire exits are clearly marked. Attractions in Scarborough, Ryedale and North Yorkshire. A visit to Scarborough must include a visit to the Castle where you can go back in time or Peasholm Park where you can take a walk or take a trip on a rowing boat or pedalo on the lake or sit and enjoy the famous naval battles. Alternatively, you can sit and listen to one of the various bands or concerts which are performed at Peasholm Park throughout the summer. Family Attractions Tours. The Scarborough Sea Life centre is a great place to visit for both adults and children alike. A trip on the open top bus around the Marine Drive will show you the harbour and marina in the South Bay. Or you could visit the Spa complex where there is entertainment both day and night throughout the year. In the evening, there is the Futurist Theatre offering a variety of shows often from international stars and then there is the Stephen Joseph Theatre, made famous by Alan Ayckborne. On the sporting scene, if cricket is your game there is a festival once a year at the North Marine Road ground. This is only a few minutes walk away and you can watch Yorkshire take on teams from around the country. As these games are very popular, early reservations are essential. Golfing Breaks golfers can use Scarborough as a base to play both North and South Cliff courses but within easy commuting distance to Whitby, Filey and Bridlington all of which are fantastic courses. There are also many places of interest to visit in the surrounding area, The North York Moors visiting Goathland were the TV series Heart Beat is filmed, Pickering and its famous steam railway, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay all being popular with walkers and cyclists. We do offer secure parking for both cycles and motorbikes.

Bed Breakfast Rooms. We have seven letting rooms: Two family rooms with en-suite facilities. Three double rooms with en-suite facilities. Two single rooms with the use of a separate shower room. All rooms are centrally heated with colour televisions and hospitality trays. Towels and bathroom accessories are provided for your convenience. Hairdryers are available on request. There is a comfortable guest lounge with Freeview TV and the pleasant dining room has a fully licensed bar.

Freshly Prepared Meals. All our food is freshly prepared and you may choose from a varied menu for breakfast including full English or one of our specials such as haddock with a poached egg. We also offer a vegetarian option. All are prepared using quality produce obtained locally where possible. A traditional home cooked three course evening meal is available on request except for Sundays, by giving at least one days notice. We also offer a range of bar snacks.
