All the rooms are bright. They have a bed base and a matrace of 110 cm (small rooms: 90 cm) and a bedsidetable with lamp. Depending on their surface the rooms are equipped with a wardrobe or a chest of drawers. With it a table or a desk with a seat and a stool and possibly some shelves. Blankets, bedlinen and towels are included. The big rooms additionally have an armchair. KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS. Kitchen completely equipped, with napkins, teatowels, sponges, washing-up liquid, salt and suger. One bathroom is shared by about 3 persons, it incudes toilet paper and soap. TELEPHONE AND INTERNET. Telephone: Own numbers for the guests. Phones on all floors. Local phonecalls are free. The house is equipped with a cableless Internet-connection whose use is payed apart. Washing machine with detergent and iron. TV and stereo in the living room. Weekly cleaning of the common spaces (the cleaning of your room can be hired apart). In summer our huge garden transforms into living room, and during the winter we enjoy the oranges it gives to us. There is barbecue and table tennis and a lot of space. With the reservation and/or the rent of a room you accept the conditions described in these pages. Everyone is responsable for the damages caused by him or by one of his guests. The rent is personal and not transferable. We are not responsable for damages caused by force majeure, natural disasters, flooding, fire, robbery, theft, power cut, strike, revolts etc. Reservation/Guarantee. The reservation is realized with the payment of the agreed sum for this purpose. The guarantee should cover eventual damages and is given back after finishing the rent. If the guest annuls the reservation more than 1 month before the beginning of the rent he/she gets 50 % of the paid amount back. If it takes 1month or less there is no repayment. Rent and expenses are to be paid at the latest on the first day of the concerning period, cash and against receipt. The time to terminate the rent is 15 days. You have to reconfirm the date of your departure 15 to 30 days before. If you terminate the rent before one month you have to pay the weekly price. On your departure you have to leave your room clean. The value of the expenses is actualized regularly according to the real costs. Electricity, gas, water. Telephone with local calls. Weekly cleaning of the common spaces. All the detergents and cleaning materials. Toilet paper and soap, napkins and teatowels. Heating of the living room. NOT INCLUDED: Food, Internet, room cleanig, heating of the rooms. If there is an excesive use of one inhabitant the additional cost will be charged. In the case of absense of 7 days or more the expenses are reduced by 50 % of the concerning value. It is the responsability of the tenant to inform about the absense. In the case of presense of guests the expenses rise in the same portion. PLEASE SAVE ELECTRIC ENERGY, GAS, WATER AND CONSUMPTION MATERIALS. The respect for the other ones and for the house is basic. Everybody is responsable for the behaviour of his guests. On your arrival we will hand over a booklet containing more details. Some rules in brief: COMMON SPACES: Leave them just like you want to find them. BATHROOMS: Do not throw toiletpaper or rubbish into the toilet. WASTE: We separate one-way bottles of glass, clean cardboard and paper, used batteries and organic waste. PARTIES: The inhabitants may organize a party only with our express permit and beyond certain conditions. SMOKE: The respect for the non-smokers prevails before the right to smoke. WASHING: Everyone is responsable of the washing and drying of his clothes and the bedlinen. We are not responsable for losses. We offer a space to live with a minimum of restrictions. Our house is situated in the center of Greater Santiago, only one kilometer from the historical center and some steps from the Cumming Metro-Station. We are located between the students Barrio Brasil and the quiet Yungay quarter with the squares of the same name. Besides the Plaza Brasil and the Plaza Yungay there are two large parks near: The Parque de los Reyes along the Mapocho-river, and the historical Quinta Normal with its museums (Metro Quinta Normal). BETWEEN BRASIL AND YUNGAY in former times has been an elegant residencial sector arround the square of the same name. Its principal axis is the Avenida Brasil which represents the original western border of the city of Santiago. was founded in the 19th century as the first planned extension of the colonial city. The Plaza Yungay was created in memory of the battle of Yungay during the war against the Peruvian-Bolivian Confederation which only could be won by the Chileans thanks to the intervention of informal troupes. These are personificated in the figure of the Roto Chileno, who got his monument in the center of the square. Every 20th of january a popular feast in his honour is celebrated here. During the last century the upper class of the sector emigrated to the new districts in the east of Santiago. The quarters passed times of decay untill, little by little in the past decades, bohemian life settled down, and following, thanks to politics of repopulation, residential blocks rose massively. Nowadays Brasil y Yungay attract new inhabitants and also tourists, and concentrate cultural centres, cafes, restaurants, universities and so on. Because of the big ozone hole above Chile the danger of the UV-B-radiation in summer is very high. We recommend to protect yourself very good against sunburn and to use sun-glasses. Although the temperature in winter in Santiago hardly reaches 0 negrees, you feel colder than in Europe. It may be cold from may to september. We recommend to bring warm cloths and pyjamas. There is a hot-water bottle at your disposal. You can heat your room with gas. Electric heating requires our permit. The smog level in winter is high. WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF AN EARTHQUAKE. Keep calm. Although the movement scares you, nothing will happen to you except something falls down on you. Stay in a secure place and wait. If you are inside a building take refuge beyond a table, a desk a door lintel or against a solid wall. Keep away from windows because they could explode. Do not use lighter or matches or any type of fire because an earthquake may produce gas leaking. Shut down all the devices as soon as posible. If you are outside stay far away from buildings and electric cables. Do not run along buildings because one of the mayor risks are gables, roofs, signs and cables falling down. If you are inside a vehicle stop it in a secure place, never on a bridge, and far away from buildings and cables. Stay there until the movement has terminated.
