A very unique historic site; the Hurstville Lime Kilns are the only set of 4 lime kilns still standing. The kilns were used to process lime from lime stone. The lime kilns were part of a company town that dates back to the late 1880's. The interpretive center is in the building process. Costello's Old Mill Reception Hall. This is a truly UNIQUE Reception and Banquet Hall. This 1867 limestone mill sits on over five acres nestled in a bluff overlooking a winding creek. Beautifully kept grounds provide for a breathtaking outdoor wedding or gathering. Just a few steps away, the inside of the mill is perfect for a wedding reception or any celebration. Ohnward Fine Arts Center. The Ohnward Fine Arts Center is a volunteer based, nonprofit organization that exists to offer quality and varied entertainment, provide lifelong learning opportunities, and foster creative expression throughout the community in a fiscally responsible manner. Tabor Home Vineyards and Winery. A family owned and operated winery near the town of Baldwin, Iowa, about 9 miles west of Maquoketa. The winery offers group tours and wine tasting. Old City Hall Art Gallery. The Old City Hall Art Gallery is located near downtown Maquoketa in the Old City Hall. It features bautiful paintings by the local artist and owner Rose Frantzen, pottery by Sylvia March, and paintings by Charles Morris. One of the very few drive-in theaters left in the country, located 5 miles south of Maquoketa. About 40 miles north of Maquoketa, Galena offers a variety of unique shops, antique stores, and tourist destinations. There are five casinos located within 40 miles of Maquoketa. The Greyhound Park and Diamond Jo in dubuque, Isle of Capri and Rhythm City in Davenport, and The Mississippi Belle II in Clinton. Maquoketa Caves State Park. Iowa's most unique state park, with over 6 miles of trails, 28 campsites and 16 caves. Beautiful scenic overlooks, a natural bridge, and a balancing rock also adorn the park. Eden Valley Refuge is situated on 201 acres of beautiful forested hills and limestone bluffs. The park has 4 miles of trails, camping, a swinging bridge, and an observation tower. Bellevue, Iowa is 20 miles northeast of Maquoketa on Highway 62. Bellevue has several unique shops and a state park along the Mississippi river. The park has a butterfly sanctuary, nature center, Indian burial mounds, and beautiful scenic overlooks along the bluffs of the Mississippi. Mississippi Palisades State Park. The Missippi Palisades offers camping, hiking trails, fishing, hunting and winter sports. The park has beautiful hanging overlooks on the cliffs of the Mississippi. It is located in Savanna, Illinois, 30 miles east of Maquoketa. Maquoketa's Other Attractions. This local history museum has a country school, antique agricultural equipment, period rooms, and changing events and displays.

My husband and I have stayed at beautiful inns and hotels all over the world and Squiers Manor ranks right up there with the best. Staying here was as comfortable as being at home, if our home were suddenly transformed into a beautiful manor house, thoughtful in each detail, with smiling, careful and attentive service, and more room than my first house in this bedroom alone!
