We want to be your Home away from Home, a perfect alternative to Augusta area motels hotels! There really is a lot to do around here, but there aren't any crowds. Vince and Scott will help you plan your daily itinerary, and they know all the secret local spots.. See ALL That Maine Has to Offer! The best part about staying in the Augusta/Hallowell area is that you can avoid the crowds of visitors along the coast, but have a great base camp from which to visit much of Maine. It is an easy hour's drive to the coast (many different areas from Freeport shopping to the crashing surf of Pemaquid lighthouse), literally dozens of great lakes for beaches, boating or fishing, or the wildlands and mountains of northern Maine. Don't choose a different place to stay every night... settle in at Maple Hill Farm, and we'll make you feel right at home while suggesting places to visit depending on your mood and interests. Things to do locally while you're here: Plenty of great fishing: Jamie's Pond, in the middle of over 800 acres of protected open space just a one mile walk or drive from the Inn, is stocked with fish every year. Perfect for putting in a canoe or kayak (bring your own or we can arrange a rental for you) and enjoying true tranquility. Cobbossee Lake, just 3 miles away offers a greater range of fishing with boat ramps or larger boats available for rent. The Kennebec River offers ample fishing opportunities, with new habitat for Atlantic Salmon after the recent removal of Edwards Dam in Augusta. Hiking and walking on our 130 acres or neighboring 800+ acre Jamie's pond wildlife management area trails are available right here! Ask for our special trail map. More trails are available in the Vaughan Woods (known locally as Hobbit-Land), the Pine Tree State Arboretum, the Kennebec River Trail, and many small mountains within 30-60 minute drives. Just relaxing on the front porch, in a hammock, in front of the fireplace, on one of our private decks, or by our OWN SECLUDED POND in the woods. Enjoying artwork in our own gallery featuring local artists, or in one of many local art galleries. Let us know if this interests you and we'll mail you a map of the Kennebec Valley Art District. Museums and Historic Architecture. This is something truly special in the Hallowell and Augusta Maine area. We have the fabulous Maine State Museum, Old Fort Western, and the recently restored State Capitol building in Augusta, less than 5 miles away. Downtown Hallowell is a National Historic District and is a well-preserved example of a late 1800's riverfront community, except for the bustling industrialization that has been replaced with antique shops, restaurants, galleries, and other specialty shops. The architecture has been preserved, and a walking tour brochure is available for purchase at the Inn. OR Stay In and Enjoy Our Comfortable Amenities! Our Spacious Rooms Are Furnished with Country Antiques, Many with Desks.
