Guests have a choice of enjoying their breakfast in the lodge area, on the enclosed (heated) porch, or outside around the large fresh water swimming pool. In the afternoon, refreshments are served on the enclosed porch. The main lodge and brick carriage houses contain 14 spacious and luxurious guest rooms and 2 suites. A top-of-the-line Inn tucked amid the grand old cottages is an oasis of serenity. Quietude is a precious commodity in bustling Kennebunkport during the summer. It is what many visitors to the resort are hoping to find, of course, but it's also becoming increasingly rare as the community grows in popularity. The Old Fort Inn has a bit of a corner on the market. It sits a block away from the shore amid the sweeping old manses of one of Kennebunkport's most attractive residential neighborhoods. The sixteen-room hostelry is so hidden away, it fact, that even a fair number of locals are unfamiliar with it. It's the sort of discreet inn you'd imagine celebrities staying at if they needed to be in the area. This, of course, bodes well for the vacationer seeking privacy. But, for all that, the Old Fort is certainly not remote; within walking distance are a handful of exceptional dining rooms and the crashing surf at Old Fort Point, and all of the restaurants and shops at Dock Square are little more than a mile away if you want to stretch the gams a bit. (The stroll from the inn to the shopping district is one of the nicest in Maine and shows off the charms of Kennebunkport much more than the same jaunt when you're encapsulated in a car. The inn itself is so well appointed, though in what was once a carriage barn, the thoroughly up-to-date rooms are as fine as any available in town, with everything from whirlpool baths to four-poster beds. The breakfast buffet alone is a treat, with homemade breads, fresh fruits, and quiches. Guest here find the best of both worlds -- you can spend time in the hurly-burly and get away from it, too..
