The Pressey House is an octagonal shaped house with an ell and an attached barn. It was built in the 1850's and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The property slopes down to Lake Messalonskee, one of the Belgrade Lakes. Enjoy the canoe, paddle boat or the docks. You can do a little fishing, go swimming, or just relax in an Adirondack chair under the big, old willow tree down by the lake. The Pressey House has five suites - the BALCONY, the WINE CELLAR, the ELL, the LOFT, and the TERRACE. The suites are unique in that all of them have private bathrooms, and most have a kitchen area. The kitchens each have a stove, refrigerator and sink. Feel free to stay for a night, a weekend, a week, or longer. During the OFF-SEASON, we offer special rates for long-term rentals. On the second floor of the main house, is the BALCONY suite, which has a balcony overlooking the lake. This is a very light and airy unit with a Queen bed. Down around the backside of the octagon facing the lake is the entrance to the WINE CELLAR. This cozy suite has a fireplace in the living room where the outside walls of the suite are exposed granite and the inside walls are brick. A double bed and queen sleeper sofa completes the setting. The ELL is on the second floor between the octagon and the barn. Its unique living room and kitchen face out onto a small balcony overlooking the lake. Up a couple of stairs is the bedroom with a queen size bed and bathroom. The suite also has a single sleeper sofa. On the upper level of the barn is the 800 sq. foot LOFT occupying two levels. The living room has a large picture window with a wonderful view of the lake! There is a a full size sleeper sofa in the living room and the kitchen area and bathroom are also on this level. Upstairs in the open loft is a queen sized bed. On the lower level of the barn, with an ground-level entrance, is the 900 sq. foot TERRACE suite. The main bedroom has a King bed while the second bedroom has two twin beds to accommodate the family. On the same level as the bedrooms, is a bathroom and the kitchen. A few steps down from the kitchen is the living room with a fireplace and double doors opening onto its own terrace close to the water. On the main level of the barn is the GALLERY, or common room. A large brick fireplace separates the living room area from the dining area. Breakfast is served in the GALLERY while you enjoy a beautiful view of the lake. In Season (May 15-October 15 and major weekends). Off Season (October 15-May 15). All prices listed are for double occupancy and are subject to change without notice.

The Belgrade Lakes Region - beautiful, historic, and hospitable - is Maine's premier inland resort area. Renowned for its chain of seven unique lakes, its vistas of woods and farmlands, and its inviting waterside villages, the Belgrade Lakes Region is a vacation and recreation mecca for tourists, visitors, and summer guests from around the world. Once the hunting, fishing and farming terrain of the proud and resourceful Abnaki Indian, this waterway to the mighty Kennebec was permanently settled in the late 1700's based on a rich legacy of mills, orchards, and farms. River and railroad accessibility carried Belgrade products and produce to the world market and by the early 1900's led to the establishment of over two dozen private boys and girls camps and numerous fishing lodges and hotels in the grand style. A favorite summer haven for the rich, the famous, and the creative (it inspired that enduring classic On Golden Pond), the Belgrades evolved into a seasonal destination for all lake lovers. The area was the set location for the HBO film Empire Falls in 2003. Today tranquil lakeside living and superb fishing, swimming and watercrafting throughout the Belgrades are complemented by a variety of delightfully local public suppers, handcraft fairs, lake days bingo, music fests, auctions, antiquing, loon-calling contests, bike tours and several good hikes close by. Within minutes you will find a new public championship 18-hole golf course in Belgrade Lakes designed by Clive Clark. Visit www.belgradelakesgolf.com. Highlights of a Belgrade summer include the mailboat ride on Great Pond, outdoor concerts at New England Music Camp (visit. ) on Lake Messalonskee, and cultural and campus events at nearby centers of Waterville, Augusta, Farmington, and Skowhegan. Drive or walk around the beautiful Colby College campus (visit. ) to pick up some college atmosphere. Blending the old and the new, the leisurely and the energetic, the rustic and the refined, the Belgrades remain a true memory-making adventure for all who pass through the area, and for the many who return time and again. The Pressey House is located in the heart of the Belgrade Lakes Region, in Central Maine. Staying at The Pressey House offers convenient access to many of Maine's most popular areas: Colby Thomas Colleges
