We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our 29 bedroom hotel which has a licensed bar and restaurant. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to help. Pre-Arrival The main train station is 5 minutes away by car. There is a taxi rank at the station. We have a website. You can contact us via phone, fax or e-mail (details below). Arrival Car Parking Facilities The car park is at the back of the hotel. There are no disabled parking bays, but there is ample room for all cars. The car park is flat, tarmac surface and free to residents. The town centre is ten minutes walk from the hotel. Main Entrance Reception The front entrance has a ramp. The porch door opens outwards but the reception window is next to the door if assistance is required. The porch entrance has a double door; each door is 77 cm wide. There is a bell inside the porch if assistance is required. The front door is 1m wide and is usually open. On entry into the hotel the reception area is 4m x 3m. There is seating provided in the reception. There is carpet throughout the ground floor. Public Areas - General (Internal) The corridors to the bedroom and breakfast room are 90 cm wide. The corridor flooring is carpet. The breakfast room, restaurant and bar are on the ground floor. Public Areas - WC There is a step to the ladies public toilet on the ground floor. The gentlemens public toilet is on the ground floor. Door width is 55cm to both ladies and gentlemens public toilets. Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar Lounges, Take Away Cafe The breakfast room is on the ground floor. There are no steps. Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. Tables have under space of 65cm high by 110cm wide. Flooring is tiled in the breakfast room and carpet in the restaurant. Cold buffet is self service and a waitress takes orders and serves hot breakfast. Restaurant is waitress service. Conference Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment Ramped entrance to hotel. Conference room on ground floor. WC on ground floor. Bedrooms Nine ground floor bedrooms, 4 single, 2 double, 1 twin, 1 family, 1 executive room. One wheelchair access bedroom on the ground floor location, close to reception. Wheelchair access bedroom has a double bed and single bed in the same room. Wheelchair access room has an ensuite shower room (see below for details). Bed is 50 cm high. There is 1m 10cm free width space in wheelchair access bedroom. The bedroom is fitted with carpet. Bathroom, Shower-room WC [Ensuite or Shared] Ensuite in wheelchair access bedroom 1m 80 cm by 2m 70 cm. Altro flooring. Door width 85 cm. Shower tray has a step edge of 3 cm with movable shower chair. Basin is 75 cm high with thermostatic mixer tap and clear under space. Toilet is 46 cm high with grab rail to the left. Grounds and Gardens There is a small garden (paved patio area and lawn with flower border) for residents use. There is a large public grass area 40 m from the hotel. Additional Information Assistance dogs are welcomed. If you require assistance in the event of evacuation, please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely in the event of an emergency. The hotel is non smoking apart from a few designated smoking rooms and the garden which has a covered area where ashtrays are provided. Hours of operation: The reception is open 7am to 11pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 10.00 pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank holidays. There is telephone assistance outside these hours.

Stevenage Stevenage is only 5 miles from Hitchin and is a busy commercial town with a wide range of leisure activities. There is a multipurpose arts and leisure centre, golf courses, swimming pool, ten pin bowling centre, 17 screen cinema and many nightclubs and restaurants. Letchworth Letchworth is 4 miles from Hitchin and was the world's first 'garden city' on which many new towns have been modeled. The proposal is to create planned towns of limited size, and surrounded by a permanent belt of agricultural land. Letchworth has several business parks and a leisure centre. Henlow Henlow is 4 miles from Hitchin and is easily accessible. The RAF Henlow has a good training base specialising in electronics. Henlow is also famous for its health farm. Luton Luton is only 12 miles from Hitchin. London Luton Airport is a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Luton town has a Museum and art gallery, Stockwood Craft Museum and gardens and an indoor shopping centre. Woburn Woburn Abbey is 26 miles from Hitchin. The Abbey is set on a 3,000 acre estate with a safari park and golf club.

Hitchin is a popular market town of considerable charm and character. Rich in medievel and georgian buildings it's original street pattern still remains to this day containing buildings and pubs of historic interest and old world grace. Hitchin has a vibrant social scene which accounts for the large numbers of pubs and extremeley good restaurants. The specialists shops, cafes and restaurants make the town a pleasure to visit offering something different to many other towns. Hitchin Swimming pool is a public indoor and outdoor swimming pool 5 minutes walk from the hotel providing a modern 25m x 17m deck level main pool and a warmer toddler's pool. A 50m heated outdoor pool with a learner pool and sun terrace is open from May to September. St Mary's Church is a focal point of the town and was founded in 792. The Hitchin museum and the Hitchin British Schools are two interesting places to visit as well as many parks and gardens. Hitchin market is the largest in the area and the town has many unique shops.

Relax and unwind, each bedroom has its own bathroom with either a bath or shower or both, comfortable beds and crisp clean sheets. The 29 bedrooms also have colour television with 12 free channels, tea and coffee making facilities, modem points, hairdryers, and outward direct dial telephones. We have a mixture of single, twin, double and family rooms. You can choose from first or ground floor rooms and all bedrooms are non smoking. For a bit of indulgence choose our Executive room which is a light and spacious bedroom with a double bed and comfortable sofa. The family rooms have a double bed and one single bed in the same room, or a double bed and two single beds. We can arrange for a cot to be provided at an additional cost or, if you wish to bring your own travel cot there is no charge. We have one ground floor bedroom which has wheelchair access and shower. This bedroom has a double bed and a single bed.

A place to relax after a busy day. The hotel bar is a particular feature of the hotel providing a comfortable setting for a relaxed business or social evening. Have a chat and a pint, watch TV, or read a paper. Breakfast is served from 7.00 am to 9.00 am Monday to Friday and 8.30 am to 10.00 am Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. There is a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juices and a hot cooked English breakfast. The restaurant has a varied menu serving from a snack, to a three course meal. Dinner is served from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm Monday to Thursday and a Bar Menu is available Friday and Saturday from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm. The restaurant is closed Sundays and Bank Holidays.

All prices are per room, per night and include English Breakfast and VAT. Rooms cancelled later than 11.00am prior to the day of arrival will be charged for the first nights accommodation if we are unable to relet the room. Family Executive Room. The conference room has character and style and can be arranged to suit the size and type of meeting required. The size of the room is 7m (22ft) long x 5m (15ft) wide and 3m (10ft) high with one large window. There are ample plug points and a modem extension. A flip chart and screen is available for use if required. The staff are pleased to discuss special requirements to ensure everything runs smoothly.
