| | country breaks | |. Quad Bike Safari - Clay Target Shooting - Relaxing. If you would like to come into the country for a few days and explore - Try this for a three day break. DAY ONE - Arrive book into Yellow House to be greeted by your hosts Avril Edward. Have dinner at one of our recommended hotels. DAY TWO- Off to Otterburn after a Northumbrian breakfast for your quad bike safari - learn how to handle your 'steed' and after explore. Lunch at the Otterburn Tower Hotel - weather permitting on the beautiful terraced lawns or beside a roaring log fire. Then back to Yellow House for a relaxing afternoon in the garden or perhaps visiting the studio of our famous artist 'Mary Ann Rogers'. Her studio is only 2 miles from Yellow House. Evening meal as you wish. DAY THREE - Next morning head back to Otterburn for your lesson in Clay Target Shooting - learn how to handle the shotgun safely, then practice shooting the targets. After coffee/tea try your hand at a small competition amongst your group, before lunch at Otterburn Mill and explore all of the fashions goods on sale at this historic mill. After lunch you may wish to explore the Crown Craft gallery and beautiful village church in the picturesque Elsdon. Back to Yellow House for a siesta before dinner. The following day after breakfast depart Yellow House at 10.00am - Price per person including clay target shooting, quad bikes, bed, breakfast and lunches. £185.00 per person. (N.B. Ask about any special festivals functions that may coincide with your stay. There is plenty to do and see in the Rede North Tyne valleys. Breakfast is served in the dining room. The beautiful polished table adds to the decor of this regency decorated room. Views are across the garden to the River Rede. Normal breakfast time is between 8.00am - 9.30am but different times can be arranged the night before for early or late risers! Your choice from the kitchen includes the usual cereals, fruit juice yoghurts followed by a full Northumbrian breakfast with free range eggs a selection of preserves toast. Fish is another speciality breakfast with a choice of rainbow trout, kippers or smoked haddock - ask about that mornings specialities. You may also choose from an omelette, boiled or poached eggs. Packed lunches can be arranged with notice and there are varied choices for your evening meal. DINING (out) - this will open a separate window giving details of local venues. [ If a new window fails to open. Yellow House is very spacious and has a choice of three bedrooms - all decorated to a high standard serviced daily. There are tea coffee making facilities along with a selection of biscuits on your hospitality tray. There is TV hairdryer in each bedroom. The Twin Room - Two single beds with en-suite facilities. The Family Room - has a double 2 x single beds. This room is specially designed for families with its outsized bathroom shower room. The Double Room - This bedroom has its own private bathroom with fabulous views over the valley. Of course if you are retired or convalescing why not come to Yellow House for a longer stay. Relax in our private sheltered gardens and enjoy the tranquil scene, a gentle stroll by the river perhaps or just simply read and admire the view from our spacious lounge.
Walkers Alternative coast to coast route plus the Pennine Way, there is Kielder Forest and of course many local footpaths and bridleways. Full drying facilities are available if the weather is inclement. Fishing In little fished waters can be arranged on the nearby River Rede or stillwater fishing at Sweethope Lough Kielder Water. Fly fishing instruction can also be arranged locally if you wish to learn a relaxing new sport. Cycling Reiver route 68 passes through West Woodburn village with other routes nearby there are full lockup facilities at Yellow House. Artist For those who prefer a more gentle activity art classes are available all year round with local artists taking part in the 'Art Tour' in June and July where you can see artists in their workshops throughout the County. Golf There are courses at nearby Bellingham and a little further afield at Hexham and Slayley Hall. Clay Target Shooting.. In nearby Otterburn - learn the basics of clay target shooting under the eye of an instructor of over 30years experience in the world of clay target shooting. Practice learn how to handle a shotgun safely in the first hour before going on to a mini competition after a much earned break. £35.00 per person, which includes, clays, cartridges, hire of the gun, safety equipment, public liability insurance one on one istruction whilst shooting is taking place. On a Northumbrian hill farm, 10 miles away to the north, you will learn how to ride a quad bike. After your training you are off on safari around this farm to view the history, wildlife farmlife. This is open to anyone over the age 12 years Prices are £20.00 per person per hour - a unique experience giving you an idea of how people lived worked in the Rede Valley. We are also well situated to use as a central touring base and within a 1 - 1½ hours drive from Yellow House Farm you have the Scottish Border towns of Jedburgh, Hawick, Galashiels, Selkirk and Kelso. Travelling east you will arrive at the Heritage Coast with beautiful beaches and costal villages at Craster, Warkworth, Alnmouth and many more. To the west is Kielder, while to the south, Hexham, Hadrians Wall country, Newcastle and the Metro Centre. Castles Houses - There are over 500 castles and houses in Northumberland the Scottish Borders. Bamburgh Castle to name but one, stands on a rocky outcrop on the very edge of the North Sea commanding stunning views of the Farne Islands Holy Island. Kielder Water - Sailing, water sports, a cruise around the resevoir, fishing and a swimming pool. Newcastle/Gateshead The Metro Centre - Why not make a day of it, over the Tyne to Europes largest indoor shoping centre the Metro Centre a state of the art shopping centre with a childrens playland at Metroland. The Otterburn Tower country house hotel restaurant. This is only 4 miles away in the village of Otterburn with a very reasonable lunch menu ( from 5.50 - 12.50 ) in historic surroundings. Booking is advisable for evening meals for the a la carte menu with starters from 3.95, main courses from 10.50 and desserts from 4.25. Much of the produce is fresh local with beef, lamb game (in season) from the owners nearby farm. Otterburn Mill - in Otterburn and a great place to visit for fashion mementos of your visit. The cafe uses home made produce is clean fresh - Try the garden tables when weather permits. The Border Reiver - in Otterburn - a bistro style cafe serving until 4.00pm with home baked cakes, pastries Sunday Lunch specials.
