Barracks, Officer;s mess an now a hotel The building in which the ABC Hotel is located in has a very unsettled history. Prior to the First World War the Jagerkaserne (fighter;s barracks) were built referring to the Karlsruher Castle;s architecture including an impressive mess in which you will find today;s ABC Hotel. As a consequence of the Second World War French troops also occupied Konstanz and utilised the barracks for more than thirty years. Due to its exposed position in the whole area the former mess was quickly transformed into a French officer;s mess. After the farewell of the former occupying forces, which had become friends in the meantime, the complete reformation of the officer;s mess to today;s listed ABC Hotel took place. Situated in a residential area, close to the town centre, with enough room for parking cars and with its close connection to local transport services the by now very popular ABC Hotel has finally gotten its timely purpose.
