The New Braunfels Cottage was built in 1872 by one of New Braunfels' first settlers, Heinrich Voelcker. Two of Voelcker's children, Annie and Marie were born in the New Braunfels Cottage. One of the most interesting and historical features of the New Braunfels Cottage is the original fachwerk which has been carefully exposed in the dining and sitting rooms. Fachwerk, or half-timber construction, is of German origin where German pioneers joined timbers with a mortise and tenon technique. Clay and bricks were then placed between the upright wood timbers - you can actually see the numbering scheme on each of the timbers. The New Braunfels Cottage features two gathering areas: a living room and a sitting room. Additionally, the cottage also has a separate dining room. The New Braunfels cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. One bedroom has a king size bed, and the second bedroom has a queen size bed. Both beds are complemented with soft cotton sheets and down comforters. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. Two bedrooms (one king and one queen bed). 2 queen sized pull-out sofas. With two bedrooms and two baths, a large living and dining room and a full kitchen, the Texas Cottage is perfect to share with friends and family. Each of the two bedrooms in the Texas Cottage has a king size bed complemented with soft cotton sheets and down comforters. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. For your convenience, we accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. Reservations can be confirmed upon receipt of the first night's rent or 50% of the total, whichever is greater. Check-in time is after 3:00pm. Check-out time is by 11:00am. A two-night minimum stay is required during the months of June, July and August and on all weekends in May and September. A three-night minimum stay is required over Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day holidays. Please confine smoking to outside areas. Children are welcome. Reservation holders must provide at least 14 days notice of cancellation before the confirmed arrival date. If reservations are cancelled more than 14 days prior to the confirmed arrival date a $25.00 processing fee is charged for each cottage. If reservations are cancelled less than 14 days prior to the confirmed arrival date, the Reservation Holder will forfeit the entire deposit. Sorry, no exceptions. Parking spaces are provided on the Comal Inn property for guests. Due to limited parking space, and for the convenience of other guests, we cannot accommodate trailers or boats. Rates do not include the 13% hospitality tax.
