Cheyenne, Wyoming is conveniently located at the intersection of I-25 (North/South) and I-80 (East/West). The Rainsford Inn is located in the Rainsford Historic District in lower downtown Cheyenne. From I-25, take I-80 East. Take exit 362, for Central Avenue/Greeley Highway. Go North on Central Avenue towards downtown Cheyenne. Note that Central Avenue will split into two one-way streets as it goes over the Union Pacific Railyard. (Central Avenue is the Southbound lane, and Warren Avenue the Northbound lane.) Continue to travel on what has become Warren Avenue, until you come to 18th Street, two blocks from the end of the overpass. Turn right on 18th Street. The Rainsford Inn is at the end of the first block on the right-hand side, 219 East 18th Street. This is the corner of 18th Street and House Avenue). There is off-street
parking on the House Avenue side of the Inn.
The Rainsford Inn was the first Bed and
Breakfast in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In the middle of a historic section of downtown Cheyenne, this gracious Victorian home has had many owners over the years. One of the first was Justice VanDeVanter - the only Wyoming judge ever to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Every great home has a great story. The Rainsford Inn is no exception! Cindy and Murray were married in Guernsey State Park North of Cheyenne in 1998. They made last minute reservations at the Rainsford Inn for their honeymoon, and, over the next few days, fell in love with Cheyenne. Enchanted by the charm and the location of the Rainsford Inn, they bought the inn from the previous owner who had painstakingly restored the Rainsford to its Victorian splendor. They have made Cheyenne their home and live at the Inn year around. They hope you will find the Rainsford Inn, and Cheyenne, just as enchanting.
