Built in 1837, the architecture of the house was inspired by the anglo-normand style Cottage Regency. During this period, the influencial citizen and entrepreneur Mr. John Leboutiller was the owner. Subsequently, a Mr. Antoine Painchaud, a land surveyor and the Vice-Consul of Spain acquired the house. Between 1867 and 1881 when Gasp was the fresh water port of the Atlantic, the house was the Spanish consulat. Mr. Painchaud is reponsible for the numerous land surveys of the gasp peninsula. In 1885 the house was handed over to Mr. Charles Sutton Lebouthiller, an insurance agent, for the sum of 1500 piastres*. After the death of Mr. Sutton, his daugter Gertrude lived in the house until her death in 1984. We are pleased to welcome you and count you among our invited guests.
