Location and Getting Here. Also walking distance to: ** Local transportation, metro station (Baquedano) and bus lines in Plaza Italia (heart of the city) ** Bellavista neighborhood where you can find Pablo Nerudas house (La Chascona), restaurants, bars and clubs. ** Cerro San Cristobal (Parque Metropolitano) with amazing lookouts to the whole city and cable cars which take you to the peak of the hill. ** Plaza de Armas (Santiagos historical district) ** La Moneda (Santiagos Presidential Palace) ** And 10 minutes away from Providencia, El Bosque norte and El Golf, Santiagos most sophisticated neighborhoods, full of shops, cafes, art galleries, restaurants, bars and clubs (calle suecia). Getting Here From The Bus station/Airport: From the Bus station: From the metro station take Line 1 (red line) to the Baquedano metro station, or pick any bus on Alameda (Av. Libertador Bernardo O´Higgins) that says Plaza Italia. As you can see in the map above we are only a couple of blocks away from Plaza Italia and Baquedano metro station (we recommend you print the map and these instructions). For reference Coronel Santiago Bueras is parallel to Merced and in between Irene Morales and Estados Unidos streets. This is the cheapest way to get to our hostel. From the airport: ** You can pick up a taxi at the airport, the fee shouldn´'t be more than US$ 25.00 (beware that Chilean taxi drivers may want to rip you off charging you more) or you can also pick up a transfer for US$7.50 aprox (I f you want we can book a transfer directly and they will be waiting for you at the TRANSVIP counter at the airport, just tell us your flight number and expected time of arrival, the fee is US$ 7.50 aprox and you pay it in the same TRANSVIP counter). We sincerely think this is the best alternative for you)...and then you just tell the driver the Hostel´s name, address and say to him that is very near to Plaza Italia, he should leave you at our door. Do not worry, Santiago is a safe city. **Please, if you have any questions write us an email and we will help you.

Great staff! Rodrigue Audet 2005-01-22. I'm from the USA and stayed here for 10 days and met many people aged mid-20s touring South America. After a day or two they'd mention it was the best hostel they'd stayed at in South America. Great commons area, perfect location, staff work extra hard to insure you are enjoying Santiago. Commons area was frequently filled with fellow travelers talking about their experiences. Laughter and good cheer abounded. Look no further for your Santiago stay. More info - email me at. Jim Attwood 2005-03-01. This hostal is very well located and the staff have been exceptional. We are in our late 50's and in spite of the fact that we are the seniors here we have been made most welcome. I would recommend this hostal any time. Douglas Cumming 2005-04-20. Staying at Hostal Forestal is a bit like staying at an older brothers messy flat. They've got all the student essentials, enormous TV, comfy sofas, internet, and random people vegging out in front of the telly all day in a hoody and shorts (normally members of staff). If you're comfortable with that, this is your ideal hostal. Joanna Furnival 2005-05-02. I WAS SO HAPPY IN HOSTAL FORESTAL IN CHILE, IT WAS NICE TIME FOR ME.. I FELT LIKE IN MY FAMILY... It was very comfortable and relaxed and a great place to meet other travellers. The kitchen is slightly small but it is well equipped and cleaned daily.
