We are located in a nature-lover's paradise with activities for all ages including white water river rafting, hiking, salmon fishing, hunting and exploring history. Looking for lodging at a child friendly hotel? We invite you to choose our Salmon, Idaho bed and breakfast instead. Sharon and David Osgood, innkeepers at the Greyhouse Inn Bed and Breakfast, extend our warmest heartfelt greetings. We take special pride in making your stay interesting, warm, friendly and comfortable. And that isn't all. Wait until you sit down to our country breakfast - berry or banana pancakes, Belgian waffles, and fresh ranch eggs, served with juice, freshly ground coffee, tea or milk. Take a look at the variety of accommodations we offer in our country inn - cozy, charming rooms in the Victorian house, charming privacy in the Carriage House, and rustic charm in our Lewis and Clark Idaho cabins. The Salmon River and surrounding mountains give us unique, unsurpassed natural beauty with many interesting places to visit. So, while you are here, we suggest you try white water rafting on the Salmon River. We can arrange your float trip with one of our local river guides for a half day, full day, or several days. If white water is not your bag, perhaps horseback riding will tickle your fancy. We can arrange it. Ask us about our package deals! Do we have your attention yet? If not, try our steelhead fishing, big game hunting, hiking, hot spring bathing, birding - it's all here. We've had visitors celebrate anniversaries, get married, and even give birth to a baby at the Inn, though we don't encourage that! If getting away from it all interests you, then by all means, include Salmon, Idaho in your travel lodging plans. Geographically, Salmon, Idaho is located a couple of miles north of the 45th parallel, about one hundred and sixty miles south of Missoula, Montana, and roughly the same distance from Idaho Falls, Idaho. Both are big towns to us. We are close to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, the largest wilderness in the lower 48 states. In other words, Wal-Mart is not doable. But, on the other hand, if open spaces and ghost towns turn you on, then come check out Bannack, Montana and some of the others. Lewis and Clark traveled into Idaho through Lemhi Pass on their way to the Pacific in August 1805. The Lewis and Clark Expedition Trail through Lemhi County is undeveloped and remains much like it was in 1805. We can provide transportation for our visitors to view campsites and trail sites, or we have a self-guided motor tour pamphlet if you want to explore on your own. Sacajawea was born near here in Lemhi County. Her people are known as the Lemhi band of the Shoshoni Indians. Sacajawea Heritage Days are an annual event held in the Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural, and Education Center. Featured Member BBIGI Pamela Lanier's. LanierBB.com Bed and Breakfasts. Almost 200 years ago, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark stood high on a ridge-line that divides continental waters, and began the discovery of the American Northwest. After the Lewis and Clark expedition, the Salmon River country would never be the same. Others soon followed, eager to share in the development of the West. Early day gold discoveries led to settlements known as Shoup, Gibbonsville, Cobalt, Gilmore, Leadore, Yellowjacket, and many more. Only the ghosts and a few building remnants remain in many of the mining towns in this area. We suggest you tour the ghost-town of Leesburg, the discovery site of rich gold deposits in 1866. The ensuing gold rush led to a mining town at Leesburg of three thousand people, and the creation of Salmon City in 1867. Another very worth-while site to see is the one-hundred-mile-long supply trail to Thunder Mountain. On your way there, be sure to see the Chinese miners' graves and read the information signs explaining mining activities in this area. We strongly encourage all our guests to take to the back-roads with us and, explore these beautiful mountain ranges, and learn the rich history of this region. Learn the local history of famous Shoshoni notables such as Cameahwait, Sacajawea, Tendoy and others. Then participate in all the available out-of-doors activities that abound in this pristine part of the world. We have golfing, hiking, and biking, horseback riding, river rafting, touring and sight-seeing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing. For the hunter or photographer, wildlife abounds. We suggest that all you outdoor enthusiasts, rough it at the Greyhouse Inn! At the end of a strenuous day, treat yourself to elegant lodging at the Greyhouse Inn Bed and Breakfast. For fishers, Spring and Fall Steelhead runs are great. There are many places to fish; mountain lakes and streams dot the country-side.
