A Brief History There has been a settlement called Escrick since Viking Times, evolving into todays pretty village. Since then, the Escrick Estate has changed hands many times over with the Lascelles family, whose name graces the restaurant today, ruling the roost during medieval times. F.C. Penrose was commissioned to build the new Escrick Parsonage in 1848, having already masterminded the new stone church in the village, which was consecrated in 1857. Many of Penroses drawings are hanging in the hotel today and the fabric of the main building has barely changed. Mrs N.C. Forbes Adam opened The Parsonage Country House Hotel on 15th June 1989, with the addition on the Coach House in 1997, the conversion of the Cottage in 1998 and finally in 2002 with a major redevelopment programme and completion of The Lodge with 25 en-suite guest rooms. January 2008 saw the re-launch of Restaurant Lascelles, being warm end inviting - a classic style with a modern twist.
