Weve been here several times before and its always such a joy. Friendly people always ready to help with anything our friend Abraham is one of the gentlest people Ive met in Belize. The Midas is definitely the best value resort in the San Ignacio area, only a short walk from town but with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere near the river. I'm so glad that Maria and her sons Mathew and Michael are managers once again. My wife and I have stayed at the Midas many times over the past several years, and it has always been a great place to stay and relax, and a great bargain. Now with Maria and her sons back in charge it promises to be even better! Many building improvements are underway, as well as a new bar in the dining area and a swimming pool coming soon. We love the wooden cabins with fans and porches, but there are also cabins and cabanas with a/c for those who prefer it. The food is great and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Abraham, the groundskeeper, is great with plants, landscaping, and just about anything else you could need. I highly recommend the Midas Resort, where there's truly a touch of heaven in town. Abraham was so helpful and even showed us the Iguanas in the trees to our untrained eye. Its peaceful relaxing and a five minute walk into town. This hotel provides a good atmosphere which makes me very relax. In the morning, mango tree wakes me up by putting the fruits on my rooms roof. I did not notice what the sound first but I found out the source later. Its fun to hear the noise now. Not only the mango tree, also birds makes me fun. Free wireless internet service is really good. Here are just some of the recent comments made in August through December, 2006 in Midas Resorts visitors book. Had a wonderful time in San Ignacio. The folks at Midas were great. Very friendly and accommodating. They were able to provide us with excellent information about the town, eating, shopping, etc... put us in contact with a fantastic local guide, who toured us around. We stayed in a cabana/cabin, accommodation was clean, basic and efficient 2 double beds, private bathroom with hot water and fan. Location of Midas is also great. Its a 10 minute walk to downtown.
