Carlton Lodge Hotel for your Southport holiday. Welcome to the Carlton Lodge which is registered as 4 diamonds Quality Guest House by the English Tourist Council and is a privately owned establishment of high quality accommodation in the heart of Southport. It is just a few minutes walk from the promenade and the elegant boulevard of Lord Street, about which it is said that while visiting the resort in the 19th century Napoleon lV was so taken with the elegance of the thoroughfare that he went home to eventually model the Champs Elysee in a similar fashionProbably a little poetic license was used by the locals of the time! Originally a Victorian Town House, the guest house was converted at the turn of the 19th century to cater for guests of a more discerning nature, and has continued to do so now for over 100 years. We pride ourselves in carrying on the splendid tradition. The Carlton Lodge has a No Smoking policy throughout the hotel. All of our rooms are en-suite. All have central heating and are equipped with hospitality trays, Hair Dryers, Colour TV's, Radio/Alarm Clocks, Complimentary Toiletries, Luggage Racks Welcome Information Books. There is a comfortable lounge which is available at all times of the day and evening, has a conservatory aspect to it, and is popular with guests, who are able to relax and enjoy quiet moments with a good book maybe or assemble to discuss the days events. Getting to Southport by Car. From the South, take the M6 to exit 26; the M58 will take you to Ormskirk and then take the A570 to Southport. From the North, follow the A59 from Preston (exit 31 from the M6) and then follow the signs to Southport. Getting to Southport by Air: Daily flights are scheduled to Liverpool John Lennon Airport from Dublin, Belfast, Cork, The Isle of Man, Alicante, Amsterdam, Brussels, Nice, Malaga, Madrid, Barcelona, Geneva, Paris, Palma and a number of other cities. You can also fly into Blackpool from both UK and European citie. Getting to Southport by Sea: Daily sailings are scheduled to Liverpool from Dublin, Belfast, The Isle of Man. Also daily sailings are scheduled to Holyhead from Dun Laoghaire. Getting to Southport by Rail and coach: Regular services to Southport operate throughout the year. A fast and frequent rail service runs between Liverpool City Centre and Southport. Rail connections to Southport from Scotland, the North, and the rest of the country are available via Manchester and Wigan stations. National Express coaches serve Southport from all major UK towns and cities. Once you have arrived in Southport, it's easy to get around. There are a number of local taxi companies who can transport you door to door. There's also an efficient local bus service available.
