Antigua Resort: Dickenson Bay Cottages are located 7 miles from the
Airport and 3 miles from the capital St. John's. The cottages are only 200 yards from the mile-long beach of Dickenson Bay where you will find some of the island's finest water sports,
restaurants,
bars and entertainment facilities. It is also adjacent to the Rex Halcyon Beach Resort, where
tennis is also available (current charges to be provided by the Rex Halcyon). Our enviable location can provide for you all the excitement and facilities of the beach with the benefits of a home away from home in a peaceful and private hillside
garden. The cottages also have their own
swimming pool and
barbeque area. Whilst the daytime emphasis is upon relaxation around the
pool or on the nearby white sand beach, our central location is close to activities such as
tennis,
golf, scuba diving, shopping and a variety of dining options. Below is a list of services available in or near Dickenson Bay Cottages. Click for more details on each service.
AIR CONDITIONING All our
rooms are fully
air-conditioned. While running the A/C units, make sure the doors and windows are closed to avoid malfunction of the unit. Also, we would appreciate it if you could please turn off the
air conditioning unit when leaving your cottage.
BABYSITTING If you have small children and require a
baby sitter, one can be arranged privately for approximately U.S. $8.00 per hour. Contact the front
office staff for more details on this service.
BARBEQUE EQUIPMENT
Barbeque equipment is available for guests' use. In order to avoid conflicting schedules with other guests and to ensure that the equipment is ready for your use, please sign up at the front
desk when you are planning to use this equipment. BEACHES All of Antigua's beaches are public. We provide vouchers for the use of
sun beds at the Rex Halcyon Beach. These can be collected at the front
desk. The
sun bed charges will be added to your bill but all other activities must be paid directly to Rex Halcyon. Without a voucher you will be liable for the full cost of using the
sun beds, which are provided to you at a special rate. You also have access to the
Bars,
Shops and
Restaurants at the Rex Halcyon Resort. BEACH TOWELS Towels for the beach or
pool can be picked up at the front
desk. Towels are to be returned to the front
desk at the end of the day. There is a charge of US $10 to replace a lost beach towel.

CAR RENTAL Please contact the front
desk should you wish to rent a car. Current rates will be provided. Please note that a local driving permit costing US$20 is required and that driving is on the left-hand side of the road.
CASINOS The King's
Casino is a 10-minute
taxi ride away in St. John's. CRUISES Local charters are available for you to explore other neighbouring islands, including our sister island of Barbuda, Montserrat, Bird Island. Check with the front
office staff for booking details, time and cost. Day
trips to other neighbouring islands can also be arranged by plane.
CURRENCY EXCHANGE You may cash Sterling and US traveller's cheques at the front
desk. These will be cashed in Eastern Caribbean Dollars. Identification is required for the exchange of traveller's cheques. DOCTOR AND DENTIST For assistance, please contact the front
desk. Doctors are available in St. John's and clinic hours are usually 08.30 - 16.30. Appointments are usually necessary. In the event of an emergency or after hours, the doctor will come out to the hotel, but please note a call out charge is applicable. There is one public hospital and one private clinic on the island. FISHING AND DIVING
Trips can be arranged at the front
desk which is manned from 08.00 to 20.00 Monday to Friday and from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. HAIRDRESSERS There is a hairdressing salon at the Rex Halcyon Resort. It is open Monday to Saturday from 09:30 - 17.00. INSECT REPELLENT Spray cans and repellents are available for purchase at the front
office.
INTERNET If you are travelling with a laptop and would like to connect to the
Internet in your
room, please contact the front
desk for more information. Our
telephone system is digital, so you will need to rent an analogue converter from the front
desk in order to use your
modem for dial up. To access the
Internet you can either choose to purchase a prepaid card from the local
Internet provider (
Cable and
Wireless), set up an account, or by dialling 1 900 480 4638 for Easy Access (user name easy, password access). Accessing the
Internet through Easy Access will cost you US $0.60 per minute. Also,
internet cafe services are available at the front
desk.
IRONS Irons and
ironing boards are available on request from the front
office.
LAUNDRY Laundry service is available. You will find a
laundry bag and price list in the
bathroom. For same day service, please have your
laundry ready by 09:00. The Housekeeping Department will be pleased to assist with all requirements. LOST AND FOUND To report lost and found articles, please contact the front
desk. MAID SERVICES Daily maid services are provided for the cleaning of your cottage. If you wish to have your dishes cleaned by the maids, tipping is advised, otherwise dish liquid and cloth can be obtained at the front
desk. MAIL Stamps are available at the front
desk. Drop your mail at the front
desk and we will be happy to post it for you. The General Post
Office is in St. John's and there is a Post
Office branch
office at the Woods
Center if you have any additional needs. MAINTENANCE Please advice the front
desk if you find a fault in your
room. We will then make the necessary arrangements with our Maintenance Department. POSTCARDS, POLO SHIRTS AND CAPS Postcards, polo shirts and caps with our Dickenson Bay Cottages' logo can be purchased at the reception. Please stop by and take a look at our selection of cards of the historical and memorable places around the island.
SAFETY DEPOSIT Please protect your valuables by placing them in the
safety deposit box in your
room. There is a daily charge of US $3 or a weekly charge of US $15. Please note that Dickenson Bay Cottages cannot accept responsibility for the loss of money, jewels or other valuables belonging to our guests. A fully refundable deposit of US $20 must be made in order to obtain the lock for the
safe in your
room.

phones in the
rooms. Calling instructions are as follows. Local Calls: Dial 9 + the seven digit number. Local calls are US $ 0.10 per minute. International Calls,
Direct Dial (North America/Canada): Dial 9 + 1 + area code + seven digit number. International Calls,
Direct Dial (UK, Europe): Dial 9 + 011 + country code + number. International country codes can be found in the front of the
telephone book. Current charges will be applied. **Please note: If using an international calling card, dial 1-800-225-5872. Charges will be placed on your
room bill. If you have a digital cellular
phone and wish to have it connected while you are on the island

Wireless Caribbean Cellular, Woods
Centre, provides a prepaid card service so that you will not miss your important calls.
TENNIS Tennis is available at the Rex Halcyon. Current charges will be advised.
