Learn to deepen your awareness of the natural world allowing the flow of energy and wisdom that is inately available from nature. From 10 - 5, May 10. Cost $75.
Lunch included. The Natural
Kitchen: the Art of Food. For me, food is both a daily
celebration of life and a creative expression. As a lover of the natural world, food is intimately tied to my
gardens and the seasons of the year. I love the way that cooking involves all the senses, adding to both its possibilities and its pleasure as an art form. In the natural
kitchen series my goal is to help people make more beautiful, inviting workspaces to encourage their own enjoyment and creativity in preparing food. Central to all of this is the focus on
health. We will explore the world of natural foods as we cook, using local, seasonal, and organic products. The quality of the ingredients, their purity and freshness, have everything to do with both flavor and
health benefits. Cooking is a joy I want to share, hopefully inspiring others to explore it with more confidence and excitement. Creativity is life enhancing It can be called forth especially in the spirit of play. It is my intention that we should have great fun learning to make wonderful food together. A lifelong
gardener, artist, and cook, Eves
gardens, floral designs, and textile art have been highly published in many magazines, books and
TV. She is currently working on a book titled, The Natural
Kitchen. Since early childhood
gardening, art, and cooking have been my passions. They have interwoven in different ways throughout my life. For almost 40 years I have been committed to organic
gardening and the natural foods movement, Slow Food before it had a name. Over the years I have cooked for both large and small groups and done
restaurant work, private
parties, and much catering. I am so blessed to have a The Hawk and Ivy where my loves and interests are integrated in my home and work. This also gives a richer, more authentic experience for those who come here for classes. It allows for an easy flow between the
kitchen and the
garden which enhances that spirit of play so conducive to creativity. The Natural
Kitchen and Natural Foods 101. This will be a basic, how to get started class. We will look at how to make each of your
kitchens more beautiful, efficient and well stocked. I will do an over view of natural foods and then we will make bread, cook various grains, and discuss how to put easy
healthy meals together. Everyone will receive lots of information. James and Eve plan to begin offering small workshops in developing inner guidance and following one's dreams. If you are looking for a place to host your workshop, please call us to discuss details. Send us your e-mail address if you wish to be notified about future workshops!

The
wedding and everything surrounding it was absolutely perfect- a dream come true.. Words cannot ever begin to describe how wonderful things were.. Wow! Absolutely the most beautiful
wedding anyone had ever been to! We had the most magical weekend;... it felt like a fairy tale.. This is a wonderful place for an outdoor
wedding. The 20 acres of wildflower meadow behind the houses form our own private valley with a long, high ridge affording 360-degree views of the mountains. Most couples choose to get married on this high ridge. James is an ordained, non-denominational minister. He meets with couples to guide them in the process of designing a service that best expresses their commitment. Halfway up toward the high meadow there is a beautiful oak barn that we have turned into a reception hall with large, covered decks on three sides. Eve is a lifelong
gardener and artist who became a floral designer. Her work is natural and romantic and always influenced by what she is growing in her
gardens at any particular time. We offer a place where you can celebrate your
wedding with your loved ones for the entire weekend. We are here to help you to design the
wedding experience that fits your dreams and desires. Your
wedding should be a joyful, heart-felt, deeply spiritual love feast, marked by much laughter and dancing and healing of past hurts and tears of thanksgiving. We consider it an honor to be a part of such a
wedding. From November to March we host smaller
weddings in front of the fireplace.
When you arrive, you may find Eve barefoot, working her
gardens. Her earliest childhood memories are in the
garden, and
gardening has been her lifelong passion. This passion colors every part of the Hawk and Ivy. The flower borders soften the lines of the house. They hang over stone walls and spring up in the midst of the lettuces and asparagus. These same flowers may be sitting in an arrangement in your
room or nestled in a brides bouquet. The perennial flower borders are constantly changing display from April though October. Everything Eve grows is organic. No pesticides, No chemical fertilizers. Just love. Eve grows much of what we serve for
breakfast. The
kitchen gardens are extensive with every kind of berry in profusion, plus fruit trees, dozens of herbs, and both common and uncommon vegetables. There are asparagus and peppers for omelets, numerous varieties of potatoes-white, gold, purple, pink, and the most delicious heirloom tomatoes. Every imaginable seasonal vegetable is flavored with fresh herbs and adorned with edible flowers.
Breakfasts are fun and exciting with guests eagerly anticipating the next mornings creations. Make a request. We offer delicious vegetarian, vegan, and low carb
breakfasts. Left: Eve coming in from the
garden with fresh asparagus and herbs.
