Inverness is a thriving new city and is known as the gateway to the Highlands. It is an ideal base for touring and is easily accessible either by road, train or plane. As well as Inverness Castle the castles of Cawdor, Urquhart, Brodie and Stuart are all within easy reach. For those wishing to sample the finest of Scotland;s Highland Whiskies there are the Glen Ord, Cardhu, Dalwhinnie, Clynelish and Cragganmore distilleries. Loch Ness is one of the most popular places to visit in this part of the Highlands and guided coach tours are available as are boat trips.
