The house Husslage BB is located in a monumental wooden merchant-house, in the center of the picturesque village Broek in Waterland. The house on the adress Laan 22-28 is erected in 1775, as is shown at the facade of the house. Some parts of the house exists even from the 17th century. In the year of 1980 the monument has been thouroughly renovated in the ancient style, by which among other things the facade is restored in its full glory. As a result of the renovation the original wall-paintings and ceiling-decorations are restored where ever as possible. Just a few other houses in this village contain this kind of Old-Dutch painted decorations on wooden walls. The house is located in a quiet little street, the Laan. You can park the car for free in the street. Your journey in Broek in Waterland offers a excellent opportunity to explore the nature and the history of the North-Western part of Holland, including Amsterdam. Bicycles and boats can be hired nearby. The guest-room The guest-room is situated on the first floor of the backside of the house (De Stolp, The Square). In the room original details have been preserved, such as the fire-place and 3 bedstedes (cup-board beds). Two bedstedes (and so the beds) have sizes 1,90 x 1,20 m, the third is smaller 1,60 x 1,20 m and this one is only suited for little children nowadays. The guest-room is therefore eventually suited for more than 2 persons. The walls and posts of the room are painted according to old painting techniques like oak or marble. In the room a colour-TV set is available. Through the window you have a nice view on the garden in Old-Dutch style. The bathroom is next to the guest-room, and is private for the guests. In this large bathroom is a bath, a shower, bath-stands and a toilet present. The breakfast The large breakfast is served in the hall on the ground-floor. The half-cilindrical ceiling is painted as the Dutch sky with birds of the area. The walls still contain paintings of the 18th century imaging crafts and professions of that age. The floor is composed of red and white marble. At the end of the hall is a sun-lounge which you surely have to admire from outside standing in the garden. The hostess is proud to show you also the paintings in her private rooms. But, in spite of all of this, don't forget to enjoy your breakfast! Thee price for a one night stay including the breakfast for 2 persons is Euro 65,-. If extra guests stay a extra price is taken into account. Dogs are allowed after consultation with the hostess. Public Transport to Amsterdam. If you decide to visit Amsterdam we advise you to leave the car opposite the hotel (for free!!) and take the bus to Amsterdam Central Station. In the little supermarket (SPAR) in the village (2 minutes walk) bustickets (Strippencards) are sold. Buying cards in a shop is cheaper than buying them in the bus. What you have left from the card, we buy from you, so don't hesitate to buy a large strippencard. For young children and 65+ persons there are cards for a reduced price. We give now some weblinks about the prices of the cards and how to handle them. Also a lot of information is to be found concerning the bus/tram/metro lines in Amsterdam. For one person 4 strips are needed to go to and even travel on in the central area of Amsterdam. The validity of 4 strips is one hour and that is sufficient to reach popular destinations such as all musea. On the way back make sure that you mark the 4th strip and show the busdriver of the Connexxion bus that you have enough strips to travel on. www.amsterdam-hotels-travel.com www.hiptravelguide.com
