www.arranfolkfestival.com. ABOUT THE ARRAN FOLK FESTIVAL. After several years of contemplation, two individuals who have been very closely involved with the festival at different times, have decided to create a new Arran Folk Festival and to do it in a way which is sustainable in the increasingly commercial world in which we find ourselves. Terry Stevens is known to most islanders and a greatmany perennial visitors, for his ceilidh work with the Boguillie Band and a variety of folk lineups which can be found playing in all corners of the island at all times of year. In a former life, Terry was a director of a marketing company and brings a clear
business approach to music - he was also a long-standing Arran Folk Festival committee member. Donal Boyle has been at the forefront of traditional music on Arran for nearly 20 years, having started his musical apprenticeship in the Kiscadale Hotel at the tender age of 14. He has played with Arran Folk Festival founder members, Iain Maggie Frame in the Angels' Share and Glasgow Bluegrass band the Moonshiners before joining Terry and his various bands. Donal wasalso a long-standing committee member and latter day chairman of the festival. The idea is to run the Arran Folk Festival as a
business and to relaunch it with a very high, international profile. Celtic Connections has provided a tremendous model, which demonstrates that it is possible to run a successful, fully commercial enterprise without losing the essence of the tradition with its informality, spontaneity and great sense of humour. The Festival will also establish a trust fund to assist the many community groups, which are involved in music and the performing arts generally. To that end it is proposed that the 15th Arran Folk Festival will take place in June 2009 and in the meantime, the company will promote a series of concerts, acoustic sessions and family ceilidhs every Wednesday throughout the summer holidays. It will also be recording local performers whose CDs will be available throughout the island and online. NICK HARPER AND GLENN TILBROOK PLAY BASE CAMP MT EVEREST! For 23 days in October (9-31) 2007, cancer survivors and co founders of the Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF) Mike Peters of the Welsh rock band the

room which has hosted art exhibitions from around Europe. It has also hosted evenings of Celtic storytelling and live music from artists such as: Fiona Davidson, Robin Williamson, Carol Laula and Nick Harper. Bert Jansch turned the house into a
studio for 2 weeks and recorded his Toy Balloon album for Cooking Vynil Records in 1998. There have also been various workshops,
conferences and a
wedding held in this unique venue. Check back to this page for regular updates on events and performances happening at The Green Harper Gallery. NICK HARPER @ THE GREEN HARPER GALLERY for Nick's Official website. There are doubtless less easily accessible live music locations in Scotland than Lochranza at the North end of Arran. Few of their venues though, can be so un-rock 'n' roll as CastleKirk's music
room. A former chapel, beautifully renovated, it is certainly a different proposition from Nick Harper's port of call tonight at King Tut's.. Rob Adams- The Herald. Lochranza, Isle of Arran, Scotland, KA27 8HL
