Tours to New York City from Black Bear Campground! Black Bear Campground is 46 miles Northwest of. From mid-May to the end of October, we have guided
tours direct from the campground. The
tours leave the campground at about 8:00AM and return about 6:00PM. You are accompanied on the
tour by a New York City licensed guide. Guided
tours require advanced reservations. The cost for the
tour is $85 for adults and $65 for children 12 and younger. Highlights of the
tour include the. Ground Zero, Theatre District, Wall Street, Empire State Building. Our
tour is offered by an independent
tour operator not affiliated with Black Bear Campground.
Tours are scheduled rain or shine with a minimum of 6 adults. The
tour operator reserves the right to cancel any
tour, and change, alter or modify the itinerary as conditions may warrant. All prices are subject to change without notice.
Tour prices include admission fees. Gratuities not included. Manhattan, one of five boroughs making up New York City, is only 2 miles wide at its widest point and just 10 miles long. For those who want to
tour New York City on their own, we are not far from the commuter railroad that stops near the Empire State Building and Ground Zero. From there you can use public transportation to go to the various sites. Once in the city you can also take. One can also drive into Manhattan. Tolls and
parking are expensive, and roads are very congested on weekdays from 6:00AM to 7:00PM. For these reasons, we do not recommend driving into the City unless you want to see a special event such as an evening Broadway Show or a night ballgame in. Hall of Fame of the Trotter are located in Goshen, just 6 miles from Black Bear Campground. The track is operational for a short time in July, and the museum is open all year. It is state-of-the-art, interactive and exciting. Ten miles from the campground is. the oldest winery in America, with wine tasting and many special events. Also ten miles from the campground is. a restored village from 1850. There you will see how Americans lived in the olden days, with demonstrations in making candles, soap and brooms. You will visit an old pharmacy, general store, blacksmith
shop,
one room schoolhouse, stockade and many other buildings. During the summer, there are many special events, such as Civil War battle re-enactments. Eleven miles from the campground is. Sugar Loaf Art Crafts Village. where you can watch craftsmen make the high quality artifacts which are for sale in the galleries. Fifteen miles from the campground is. the largest concentration of premium factory
outlet stores in the United States, with 220 separate stores. Almost every premium brand has an
outlet store at Woodbury, whether it be designer clothing, jewelry, luggage,
kitchenware, home furnishings, toys, linens, books, electronics and more. People come from all over the world to
shop at Woodbury Common. Eighteen miles from the campground is the. Orange County Choppers workshop and showroom. See them at work. Orange County Choppers also has a store at Woodbury Premium
Outlets. Insurance restrictions prohibit Black Bear Campground from having anyone ride a motorcycle or similar vehicle within the campground. Twenty-three miles from the campground is the. U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Storm King Art
Center. with over 400 acres of outdoor statuary. There are many other interesting but less well known attractions nearby, many of which are included in the extensive brochure collection which we maintain at the campground store. There are many annual special events nearby like the. New York Renaissance Faire. (August to mid-September), Stock Car races at the Fairgrounds and more. For those who like hiking, the campground is less than 15 miles from the. The best nearby fishing is at Greenwood Lake, an 8 mile long lake located just one mile from the Appalachian Trail. There are more than a dozen
golf courses which are open to the public and within a half hour;s ride. Horseback riding is nearby. For those who like fresh fruits and vegetables, there are farmers markets and;pick your own; farms open from June to the late fall. October is a lovely time of the year with the changing of the color of the leaves.
Rental Cabin RV;s at Black Bear Campground. Black Bear Campground has 11 Units for rent. Items to Bring to Cabin RVs: Bedding, towels, chairs personal items. These items firewood are also sold at campground store. Pets: One cat or one dog (no vicious breeds) are permitted. The pet owner shall be responsible for any damage done by the pet. bathroom with a full-sized stall
shower and full-sized
toilet. The
kitchenette area has a
refrigerator, microwave and
sink. Depending on the unit, the
room has either a double bed, bunk double beds, or a double bed and bunk single beds. It has a color
TV, heater and
air-conditioner. Outside the front door is a porch, and just off the porch is a picnic table and fire ring for cooking or relaxing. These features are combined with the
swimming pool (Memorial Day to Labor Day), weekend activities at the pavilion, an arcade, store,
basketball court, horseshoes, playground and more for a fine overall camping experience in a peaceful country setting. Our facilities are designed to make your stay enjoyable, whether you are visiting friends and family, touring our local attractions (such as West Point), sightseeing in New York City, or are on a temporary assignment in the area. All are designed to sleep four, except the Handicapped accessible RV, which sleeps two. A picnic table and fire ring are outside of each unit. Rates - January 1, 2008 - June 30, 2008. Weekends (Fri. Sat.). Rates - July 1, 2008 - Sept. 1, 2008. * Plus sales tax. 2 night minimum on all Cabin RV rentals. 3 night minimum on holiday weekends. $10.00 per night surcharge on holiday weekends. There is no sales tax on rentals of a week or longer without housekeeping service. Cabin RV rentals require a $100.00 deposit. Deposits are non-refundable.
