THE MONTPELIER. SANDOWN ISLE OF WIGHT. The Montpelier is a small family run BB offering clean affordable accommodation which is situated on the first and second floor of the property, giving it the advantage of overlooking Sandown Bay. We have seven / eight letting rooms, most with sea views, comprising of doubles, twins, a single and family rooms, one a very spacious and in two rooms, so the kids aren't under your feet. They are all en-suite. All rooms have a colour TV, alarm clock/radio, table and chairs, fridge, tea/coffee making and more than ample wardrobe and drawer space so there's no having to live out of a suitcase. Guests have their own keys so they can come and go as they please anytime of the day or night and there's no knocking on your door at the crack of dawn to clean your room we see to it when you want if you want and with quilts on the beds most guests like their privacy. For those that like to lay in while on holiday we offer breakfast directly opposite in Barnaby's Restaurant any time of the day from 7am till it closes. There is an iron, ironing board and hairdryer available on request. The Montpelier garden is small but fall of colour and probably one of the most photographed and complimented gardens on the Island. It has won the Sandown in Bloom competition for best sea front garden in 1998, joint first in 1999, first in 2000 along with first in Wight in Bloom, first again in 2001 in both Sandown and Wight in Bloom, only second in 2002 (fixed 1st was judges friend) and then back to first in 2003 for Sandown in bloom and a trophy for most consistent winner as well. We've just been notified that we are first place again for 2004 and 2005. THE MONTPELIER THE IDEAL BASE FOR YOUR STAY ON THE ISLAND.

The accommodation all start on the first floor, with 15 steps leading to our front door and is situated on 2 floors. All rooms with the exception of the single room have en-suite showers they all have a table chairs, TV, alarm/clock radio, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities and all have plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, there's no living out of your suitcase whilst you're here. On the first floor we have rooms 1,2 3. No.1 is a very large double, more like a suite with a double bed and plenty of wardrobe space in one area then through an arch down one small step to a sitting area with sofa, coffee table and TV. This room has a large window looking out to sea and the guest sun deck. Leading off the bedroom is the large en-suite. Room no.2 is a family room with a double and bunk beds this one looks out to the side of the hotel. This room has a large table chairs ideal for the family to sit around. Room No.3 is a double with views of Pier Street. We then go upstairs for rooms no. 4,5,6,7. Room no. 4 is a very large family approx. 4mtrs X 11mtrs in 2 parts. The main area has the double bed and table chairs etc looking out over the pier and out to sea, fantastic views. Through a door way at the rear of the room and down 2 steps we have a bedroom with 2 singles and the en-suite, an extra guest bed can be put in here if needed. Room no.5 is a single it has fantastic views overlooking the pier and beach it has it's own private shower room across the landing which is only used by this room and is lockable. Sandown has a magnificent sandy beach which slopes gently into the sea and is ideal for all the family to paddling and swimming. There are various watersports available from pedaloes to speedboat rides and further along the beach is a watersport centre. Directly opposite is Sandown Pier with it's amusement arcade, tenpin bowling, Jurassic golf and children's rides. A broad seafront promenade is within easy reach for a 2 mile coastal walk between Sandown and Shanklin or a clifftop walk above goes to Shanklin as well. Sandown town centre is packed with small interesting shops, pubs and restaurants/cafes and a supermarket for your needs. During the summer a road train operates between the town centre, Esplanade, Culver Parade, Sandown Zoo and Yaverland, where there is a footpath to Culver Downs with it's panoramic views of the Bay. Sandown is sign posted from the ferry terminals and are easy to follow once in Sandown follow the signs for the Esplanade and pier which will either bring you down Melville St where you go straight across at the junction with the High St and Beachfield Rd into Pier St where we are approx. 30 mtrs down on the left, at the end of the first building. Alternatively you will come up the High St when you reach the end of the shops you will turn left into Pier Street. As soon as you can see the Pier you are on top of with us.
