Spa opened in 1975, and includes 60 spacious
rooms and
suites in 12 separate one and two-story buildings, each with private
balcony or
patio and either ocean or valley and mountain views. Most
rooms and
suites have fireplaces. The Daily Resort Fee is $15.00* and includes the following: Hi speed
internet connection in
room and in public spaces. Morning yoga classes. Daily Ventana guided hikes. Uses of Japanese
baths. Afternoon wine and cheese. *Applicable for stays on or after April 12, 2005. Designed by designer/artist Kipp Stewart of Big Sur, the buildings are of weathered cedar, latticed against the sun and scattered about a mountain meadow among redwood, oak and bay laurel trees. restaurant. Located on the property, 1/8 mile from the Inn via a level, wooded path. The
restaurant affords panoramic, 50-mile ocean vistas and has a

June 24, 2008, 5:00pm, BIG SUR, CA Although the Ventana Inn
Spa remains closed to guests from the Basin Complex Fire, the resort staff has dedicated its time and energy toward supporting the firefighters who are battling the blaze. Since Sunday night, the Inn
Spa has served about 100
breakfasts,
lunches and
dinners per meal period per day to engine crews until an official emergency field
kitchen can be put into operation at the Incident Command
center at Molera State Park. Also, close to 60 firefighters have taken advantage of having full access to the Inn
Spa to take
showers and rest on property in between shifts. The Inn
Spa also has extended its efforts to help all emergency services fighting the Basin Complex Fire, including staff from the Monterey County Sheriffs Department and California Highway Patrol. At approximately 7 a.m. Sunday, the management of the Ventana Inn
Spa was serves with a mandatory evacuation notice. In about two hours, all guests and staff were relocated. The Ventana Inn

Spa will remain closed until authorities declare the area is
safe for guests and staff to return. Update: The Gallery and Basin Wildfires Merge in Big Sur. June 24, 2008, 1:30pm, BIG SUR, CA The Gallery Fire, which to date has now burned nearly 10,000 acres and destroyed 16 residences and two outbuildings in Big Sur, merged with the nearby Basin Fire today. It is now called the Basin Complex Fire. Both fires were started by lightening strikes in last Saturdays thunderstorms and are only 3% contained. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a State of Emergency in Monterey County due to the wildfires. There has been no damage to Ventana Inn
Spa but the resort is still under a mandatory evacuation, and management recommends alternate plans for any guests holding reservations at Ventana Inn

Spa was contacted by the Monterey County Sheriff's Department with a mandatory evacuation notice. The
safety of our guests and staff is of the utmost importance, said General Manager Jonathan Farrington. Everyone was contacted immediately and given until 9:30 a.m. to leave the property.. Relocation assistance was provided as needed and physical
room to
room search was performed to ensure all guests had evacuated. The management then began contacting guests scheduled to arrive in the next 48 hours let them know Ventana Inn

Spa will remain closed. We put in place our complete and detailed emergency evacuation plan said Farrington. If the fire is immediately contained and the property is no longer in danger, it will take us time to bring the resort back to full operation.. Please check back for updates.
